25 years ago NASA’s Viking1 spacecraft was circling the planet Mars, snapping some photos of possible landing sites for its sister ship Viking2, when it spotted the shadowy likeness of a human face. An enormous head nearly 3 miles from end to end seemed to be staring back at the camera from a region of the Red Planet called Cydonia. Today, we have more detailed images that show how wrong we were. Even though I for one would like to believe Face On Mars is a strong sign of some ancient civilization, we can see it was just an grand Optical Illusion, one of the most famous one to be precise. This is Cydonia in high resolution. Sadly, looks like no civilization was here, but the image itself looks pretty amazing, you have to admit!
You can see the progress in high-res technology from 1998 to 2001 through resolution at which this photos were taken. Progress of detoriation is also visible. This sand dune looks like face only in certain conditions like: sun angle and camera position.
This is how NASA calculated the 3D surface of Mars Face would look like. They used techonlogy that is nowdays used by Google to enable 3D Earth’s surface in it’s Google Earth application.

First hour guest, Richard C. Hoagland of Enterprise Mission appeared live-in-studio to reveal a startling Moon ‘artifact’ photo. Calling the artifact, found in Shorty crater, ‘Data’s Head,’ (a color enhanced image is pictured left) he said it was taken on the Apollo 17 mission in December 1972. ive seen this before people like to make faces out of things so it is so not real just like that “Saddam Husein’s Face Appears on The Moon” its not real.

The reason we saw it the first time is because the human brain is good at recognizing faces, even if the faces are just rock formations and odd lighting.
i think a giant mouse was flying in a space ship and was trying to go to the moon becuase he thought it was made out of cheese but he fell on mars and was so bored he created a giant face on mars then the giant mouse died. The End

I was reading a book… It was VERY fascinating. It had shown evidence of life on Mars and how it had something to do with the Egyptians. Possibly when humans lived on Mars, they built a giant face? Might be…
