Ready for a Sunday optical illusion to blow your mind? This awesome square to circle illusion sculpture can be found in the Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles.
If you’re standing at one angle, the sculpture appears to be a square. As you walk around the sculpture, though, you can watch it morph from square to circle, as if by magic.
Actually, magic has nothing to do with it. This is just a clever piece of art created by a trio of European artists who call themselves Troika—Conny Freyer, Eva Rucki, and Sebastien Noel. This illusion was included in Troika’s first solo expedition in North America.
It’s really an amazing illusion when you think about it. The material used in this square to circle illusion had to be carefully crafted and shaped to create such a seamless transition from one shape to another. All of the angles, lengths, bends, and curves all had to be perfectly perfect to achieve the desired results. There was really no room for error here and I’d say they nailed it!
