Fireworks Illusion in Devil’s Lake, ND

Cities and towns across the country were lighting off fireworks on Saturday night to celebrate this country’s independence. It’s not uncommon for people to not only try to take pictures of firework on the Fourth of July, but also get some beautiful shots. Sometimes, they even get really lucky and come up with a photo like this amazing fireworks illusion…

This fireworks illusion shot was taken in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota on July 4th, 2015 during the Independence Day fireworks show by amateur photographer Mitch Axness.

I’d call this fireworks illusion photo a mix of honed photography skills, good timing, and plain dumb luck! Obviously, the photographer who took the picture of this fireworks illusion knew what he was doing; the photo is crisp and clear and just plain beautiful, even without the lightning.

However, to capture what looks like a bolt of lightning coming down from the sky and exploding into a firework doesn’t happen every day. Not only did he happen to take the picture at just the right time, the lightning also hit at just the right place. It’s perfectly positioned in this photo, either in front of or behind the fireworks explosion. The result is a fireworks illusion that’s simply stunning!

Some people also say that they can see a face in the clouds as well. I’ve read that they thought it was God or Mother Nature. I guess I can see the face in the clouds, but only because they were pointed out to me. I never would have noticed it on my own.
