Eureka Tower Carpark – 3D Chalk Drawings

Axel Peemoeller is a designer who created these fabulous 3D drawings in Melbourne. His creations were developed as a way-finding-system for the Eureka Tower Carpark. The distorted letters on the wall can be read perfectly when standing at the right position. This project won several international design awards. In one of my previous posts I found visitor’s comment requesting more 3d chalk drawings. I hope this one is serves you right! Axel’s work is much similar to Felice Varini’s in my view. Do you see resemblance as well? And another thing – we had minor coding error, which prevented IE users from seeing the site correctly for the last few days. Some visitors even reported they couldn’t open the website in IE7 at all! Everything should be ok now, but please reply if you had the same experience, and if the site works correctly now.

  1. I’ve got a feeling I know how these are done. If the writting were projected onto the walls or whatever and then, where the light shows is painted, once the painting is finished and the projection is turned off, you could take a picture through the same lens (or a similar one in the same place) and the writting will apear perfectly unstretched,

  2. I love these! Why can’t the artists do this where I live? They do it in London!
    Great illusion, looks so real!

  3. Oh, wow! These look so real, I am not sure I’d willingly drive through there in case they’d be solid :-]
    Good one!

  4. Very creative, but when you are driving, how often are you going to be in the perfect spot to see the illusion correctly?

  5. That’s awesome! When I saw it in the widget, I thought it was text edited onto the garage photos, but it’s not. Maybe the widget should be resizable. Anyways, does this Eureka Tower have anything to do with the Sci Fi channel’s “Eureka”, or what? I wish I could do stuff like this.

  6. =o i love these kinds of illusions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i especially like the “down” one
PS This is a question for my fellow commenters, depending on what you answer your life could be changed. MR.T or Chuck Norris

  7. Perfect, I have seen a lot of these illusions, but because of its simplicity this is the best. Funtional and cool.

  8. Wow at first this doesn’t seem like any thing big. But with further perspective it really is an optical illusion!

  9. That is so cool when you look at it it just looks flat but its all stretched and on differnet levels when you look up close!!!!!!!!!!!
