Bev Doolittle’s Eagle Heart Illusion

As odd as it might seem to you, there is huge amount of work being done behind this website for the last few days. Sure, there hasn’t been new on the outside (relatively slow in updating posts), but I’m working 24/7 to properly migrate this site to new dedicated server, additionally switching to WordPress platform. If all is well, you shouldn’t even notice this migration. I have already purchased a server, am fiddling with it right now, and in the same time I’m exporting this blog. It takes some time, since we had over 1,400 posts and over 54,000 comments by now! If there is some WordPress guru out there, I’d like to talk to him about migrating the Feed (so the widgets keep working), and still haven’t found out how to export all the images (download them from Blogger and Photobucket to wordpress, and update all the links)… If you have a single clue what I’m talking about, be sure to mail me.

For a quick update, there is an illusion by Bev Doolittle that I haven’t managed to figure for the past 2 years. Apparently there should be a Wolf face or few Eagle heads inside this image, but I never manged to spot them. Probably didn’t have enough time to stare, but still… The image is titled “Eagle Heart” so this might help. Can’t wait to hear the real solution from you guys.

  1. I spotted about 6 or 7 eagles, I can’t find the wolf though. They’re very subtle, look for the rocks that are shaped like eyes and then you’ll see an eagle head in the snow.

  2. A Little above the horse’s head is an eagle’s head lookig to the right. And to the right and a little higher is a eye, for what I’m not sure. To the other side of the Indian and at the same hight of the eye is the forarm and paw of a wolf of dog as if it is reaching. That’s wat I see after a glance.

  3. All the eagles are in the blue, there is multiple eagles.I can see one wolf in the top left corner where the black first meets the blue. this was an easy illusion took merely seconds to see.

  4. Hmm, well, I managed to spot some eagle faces in the rocks behind the Indian, but I haven’t managed to see the wolf.

  5. I love Bev Doolittle’s art. The wold appears to be running from the top left corner, the eagle is almost center left side. Also the outline of a woman is in the bottom right in the bushes, deer are top of mid section right side. With her paintings there is always so much hidden.
    Thanks for your posts.

  6. I can only see the eagles.. they are coming out of the snow (I think its snow) in the back ground. from the middle facing out in all directions. Once u find an eye or 2 or 7 ish lol you can see them all.

  7. I see the eagle. It’s eye is above the horses head skightly to the left but inline with the feather headset. The wing span runs from top edge to left edge of the picture.

If you look really attentatively you can convince yourself that three eagles in this picture, all facing the same direction. One’s head is top centre and the other is adjacent to the chief’s head.

    Happy hunting ;0)

  8. I can see eagle heads, but unable to find a wolf face. focus on the small rocks surrounded by snow, to see the head of the eagles, once you find one, it’s fairly easy to find the rest.

  9. The background is an eagle head with feathered neck. The Indian on the horse is positioned at the eagle’s heart.

  10. Above, and to the right of the man’s there’s and eagles head. Above of the horses’ head to the left (just a little bit) there’s a wolf, and just below of that wolf, there’s another eagle head. Also found another eagle’s head above that wolf. I have found 7 eagles and 1 wolf. Just look for small round-like formations with the rocks and the blue snow and there you have the eyes.

  11. I see them if you look in to the “clouds” above you can see clouds that look like eyes and then yo just follow that to the wolf in the upper right area and the eagle in the middle and on the left

  12. I see about 8-10 eagle heads in the snow and rocks around the indian. Almost touching his headdress on our left is a beak and head in the snow with an eye in black looking outwards. If you go directly to our left from his shoulders near the edge, you will see a black eagle head with a snow beak (look for small circles around the eagle eyes).

  13. Eagles heads are in the snow/rocks above. There’s probably a dozen of them. Look for rocks that look like eyes

  14. look for the eagle eyes that will lead you to the eagles. I love Bevs works of art and how they can help you to train your eyes to look for more than the obvious in every thing!

  15. Bev Doolittle does some great work.
    She has many such paintings.
I have a few of her prints myself…

However I have noticed that the smaller “copies” or photo’s of her work make it much harder to see the hidden images….

    Check her website for more!!

  16. There are four Eagle heads behind the man. I saw them right away – they’re in snow. …..but no trace of wolf :D

  17. i think i can see a eagle, a raven, and some wolfs. but i’m not sure… i will send a email to you, to see my vision :B

  18. OK… I see random eagle's heads throughout the snow behind the dude on the horse (four distinct; & a couple of 'maybes')… Would it be saying too much to point to one just left of the headdress –> eagle's head faciing left.

Of course, I could just be seeing thing. LOL!

  19. There are plenty of eagle heads. Try to locate them by finding their eyes. I think that’s the easiest way.

  20. Wolf is at 9:30 (20-25º) from Indian’s head, and lots of eagle heads are spotted searching for figgures like this:

    “(·)”

(more or less); these are the eyes. All faces are drawn from the side. Few “eagle faces” are the sky-color and other are the “cloud-color”.

  21. I see the eagles and the wolf is on the bottom left side from the horse’s head… They are just not well defined, unfortunately…

  22. Actually i could find some eagles heads in the rocks behind the man… you can find easily theirs eyes and then the rest of the head!
    I still don’t get the wolf thing… mmm…

  23. there are many eagle heads spreading out from middle facing lots of different directions. Look for what look like eyes first then heads form!

  24. get out of your cahir back up about 4 feet and look at the blue the wolf is facing the left. i can’t find the eagle

  25. One reason I love your blog – you seem to be the worst person at spotting illusions. You give us the clues and still you can’t spot them.

    Ho hum.

Look for the “eyes”. Pretty obvious. Go from there.

  26. That's cool…I like the subtle ones. I counted about 10 eagle heads in the rocks formations above & around the native. They might be easier to spot if you look for the eyes…then the beaks come into view.

  27. They are in the background in the snow, lots of ’em. Look for the profile of an eagle’s head made out of snow and rock.

  28. The frontal veiw of the wolf’s face consists of the majority of the snow and rock… if you take a step back and focus on the entire image you see the outline of its face and definition of the eyes which is most signatory feature to wolves. I count 10 small eagle heads and one large eagle head directly behind the medicine man or Sitting Bull on the horse.

  29. The eagles head is visable to the right top by the indian’s headress. All Bev Doolittle’s have hidden images in the back ground.

  30. It’s hard to tell, but basically there are a lot of eagle heads in the snow and rocks behind the Indian. If you start by looking for rock and snow formations that look like an eye you can then see the head and beak surrounding it. It helps if you sit away from the computer screen a bit. I can count at least 4, mostly on the left side of the painting.

  31. There are eagles on the mountain in the snow, only the heads, the heads are in the of snow,!

  32. I see a bunch of wolf heads in the clouds but that could be my imagination. It’s the blue part and the black make up the eyes and snout…but again it might be me imagining things…

  33. Very well made! It did take me a few minutes to spot any, but as soon as you get it you’ll be able to spot.. over 10? I lost count :)
Hint: when you’re trying to spot them, look for eagle heads in profile.

  34. I see several eagle profiles fanned out from the center of the picture. The biggest is eagle profile is facing to the right, outlined in snow…you can see a distinct eye an inch to the right of the man’s head-dress (at about 2 o’clock). I see another one above that, and then 4 more on the left side (once you recognize the eye shape from the big one I mentioned, you should be able find the others). Also, there could be a wolf profile in the snow at the top left. I hope I’m not just seeing things :)

  35. at first it seemed complicated, but that was because of the glare from outside…
once i leaned in, its actually quite easy, im in a hurry, but i see 8 eagles – look in the snow background, very easy… theres 2-3 wolves, also in the moutain but lower… and i think i see 2-3 woodcocks(short fat/round north american bird with a long bill)… but that might be a coincidence, think esher’s bird illusions
oh i just saw a 9th eaagles head in the bottom right corner by the shrubs…

  36. His leg schows a wolves head with a little imagination.
and the bushes are the eagles, one both standing on the grond.

  37. Yay!

I did find 3 eagles and a wolf head, even though, it is a bit hard, as the colours are blue and black it may be a little be hard to spot them.

  38. I see the two eagles (spoiler alert: they are both above and to the left of the headdress), but I’m still looking for the wolf…

  39. didnt see a wolf head but the eagle heads are in the snow in the background, takes a bit of squinting.

  40. If you look into the snow you will see the eagles head and its wings are spread out. You will see half the eagles heart just behind the abarigional on the horse. :) Hope you can see it ! Its kinda cool.

  41. ‘found four maybe six eagle heads so far, but nothing on the wolf face.

Directly to the left of the Native American’s head is one face. The heads are easier to spot if you look for the eyes first. Not to far from the headdress there is an open circle of snow, that is the eagle’s eye. All the heads I’ve found are facing to the left. Hope that helps!

  42. Unless my imagination is running wild, I can see eagle heads all around in the snow and rocks! At least 7.

  43. Alright I see the eagle!
it’s beak is half hidden behind the natives hat. if you look above the native you’ll see a big rock and directly under that there’s a smaller rock. You’ll then see that on that rock there’s like a white oval with a tiny line at the end… that’s the eagles eye. You kind of have to look at the picture as a whole and not concentrate on one part. You can see that the eagle head is right above the horse and the native.
P.S. the eagle’s head is about the size of the horse and native…

  44. If you look at the spots on the snow that look like eyes, the rest is filled by your imagination… to create the rest of the heads.

  45. I see lots of eagle heads. They all have white heads and beaks (snow). Their eyes have brown (rocks) around their white iris. If I stretch my imagination I see a wolf head but am not convinced I see it.

  46. If you move back away from the picture you can see the head of the eagle just to the right of the man on the horse.

  47. I see eight; possibly nine; eagle heads spreading out in a circular formation from the centre of the rock formation. Look for the eyes first. The wolf face is a bit of a stretch though, had to use some imagination. It’s eyes are shared with the eagles, and it’s snout is the rock to the left of the man’s right shoulder. The countours of the wolf’s face are twigs coming out in a traigular shape forming the \/ of face with the indian’s headress at the bottom tip of it…. haha, yeah, a little imagination.

  48. ok, i’ll be the first to comment.

if you turn to the left your head, in the center right of the picture, i can see “the head of the eagle” (an american eagle), but i can’t find the wolf.

  49. I see several eagle's heads:
    1) to the left of the horse's head, there is an eagle head facing left, with the eye just left of the bush.

    2) to the left of the Indian chief's head there are 2, maybe three eagle's heads all facing left- #1 just left of chief's head, showing eagle's head & shoulders, #2 just above it, and possibly 33 left of them, but this is less defined.

    3) Going down from the upper right hand corner, follow the first crease of snow inward to the beak of a rightward facing eagle's head.

For all of these, the eye is the focal point.

  50. I see what could be a few eagle heads scattered within the rocks just above and to the left of his head.

  51. I found the wolf’s face and the eagle’s heads. The wolf’s face is in in the middle of the picture, his nose is beside the cheifs head and its eyes are above his head. I’ve only noticed two eagle heads and they are both on the left side of the wolfs face and their facing out, on is facing to the direct left and the other is facing the bottom left. Hope it helped.

  52. Hi.

I don’t see a wolf face, but there are quite a few eagle heads. they are situated throughout the snow and rocks in the background. I’d say the easiest one to spot is in the middle to the left (middle in height) and the head is a rock – the eye is made from snow on the rock and then the beak is the snow shaped by three surrounding rocks.

Reading that it doesn’t seem too helpful. But the key is look for the eagle eyes and the beak and head will follow. There is one that could be a wolf head…but it’s debatable.

    Good luck!

  53. Hey,

    I’ve found several eagle’s.

There are 2 on the left, (1 horizontal looking left, the other diagonal also looking left) there are more in there but these are the easiest to spot.
    Don’t see any wolves btw.
    but I’ll keep looking.

    ps. first com. right?

    Love your site!!

  54. I counted at least 8 eagle heads. I have not yet spotted the wolf, but if I find it I will let you know. The eagles heads are all over the mountain side disguised as rocks and snow. If you look at the formation of the heads it creates a heart shape.

  55. i can see tons of eagles and wolves, it will help if you tilt your head to the right a little or move the screen up and look at it in a angle

  56. there ARE eagle heads, lots of them
the blue/white spots are the beaks and the dark spots are around the eyes and the pupils of the eyes

  57. I had to blow it up a bit (actually, quite a bit) but the three eagles’ heads are above and to the left of the Indian.

Look for small round stones surrounded by snow, and those are the eyes.

  58. After looking pretty hard, I was able to see what seems to be various eagle heads in the background area.
No luck seeing any wolf heads though.

  59. Well, you need to actually have to “look past the picture” to see the thing. It is kinda hard, but my father can do it. Stare at it in a certain way long enough and you’ll see it.

  60. I think I see some in the rocks, only eagle heads though. I could be seeing things, they aren’t really obvious. The eyes would be where there are small rocks inside the larger ones, you just have to look at shapes and add your own lines in some parts.

  61. I see it. Its pretty good. I spotted it real ez though. I saw it as soon as i looked at it.

For those of u who cant c it, the white snow against the dark brown rocks makes lotsa eagle heads. I hope u c it now!!

  62. I found at least eight eagle heads in the snow behind the chief. Most are white, but a couple of them are dark. Very good illusion indeed.

  63. found one eagle head…just above his head, to the left a bit. the eye is a small rock with snow in the crevice….let me know if you can see it. :D

  64. I see 12 eagle heads kinda pointing away from the indian if you overlook everything, but i still cant find any work, i do think the worf is a rumor, and its not really there

  65. eight eagles, one wolf… is anyone else as sick of spot the animal illusions as i am? either way, amazing site!

  66. I saw eight eagles in less than a minute, meaning I don’t know how many there are total, but there are eagle heads in the scene behind him, dunno if there are any anywhere else. I need to go to sleep now.

  67. Hi,

To see the wolf you’ll need an reflective tube. With the base over the Indian head, the wolf will appear in the mirror view.

    Regards…

  68. I found at 8 eagle heads, one head with wings and I’m sure there are more but I don’t have time this morning to search. I love all of Bev’s work, especially the spotted pony ones she does.

  69. i see seven eagle heads in a circle around the guy on a horse starting inline with the horse’s head (in the rocky background)

  70. I see 9 eagle heads above the native in the darker snow. If you look just to the left of the native’s head you can see one and many others surrounding it.

I think i see a wolf paw above and a little to the right of the natives head and a wolf head, or something somewhat like it, to the left of the horses head.

    Good Luck ;D

  71. There are 14 eagle heads. There is a camouflage key for this print. Check it out on ebay. Search for Bev Doolittle Eagle Heart Burlwood Framed. Per this key, there is no wolf hidden in the picture.

  72. At least three eagle heads (in the snow – middle of pic – look for the eyes) and a wolf head in bottom left of pic (also in the snow)…

  73. I counted around 11 eagles, the wolf’s left eye is one of them. they are placed in kind of a rosette pattern around the indian. The angles of the heads are all a little different, and they are different sizes. The outlines aren’t very clear, maintaining the illusions. My grandmother had many decorative plates that had illusions like these.

  74. I saw quite a few eagle heads at least one wolf head and many other things including a razorback head, a cat head, a gorilla head, a bears claw, and several other faces that I could not distictively identify what kind they are. You may not see them but they are definately there. i would love to knpw what kind of things others see when they look at this picture.

  75. i found 5 eagle heads but i havent found any wolves yet. i have to say this has got to be one of the funnest ones ive done yet.

  76. Bev’s website at this pic said something about when she paints a grizzly. for the life of me i can’t see a grizzly. Did finally find some eagles and maybe a wolf. much more subtle and abstract than hers usually are

  77. in the rocks in the center going outward there are eagle heads circling out around the indian
i counted 7 there might be more. clue ” blur eyes and distance work”

  78. There are 14 Eagles but no wolf officially.

It is possible, like cloud gazing, to see other “shapes” and assume they are something else… for example it is possible to assume an angled wolf face with its nose on the indians right shoulder (left side of the indian as you look at the picture) and two eyes above a little way, but that’s not intended by the artist I gather.

  79. I can see various size eagle heads and wolves. The eagles are around the Indian and the wolves are full body and heads.I see 10 eagles and 9 wolves so far.

  80. You can see the wolf’s head in top left corner of this pic. Actually it is a right profile of wolf’s head. I hope it’s the solution :)

  81. I see a number of eagle heads, mainly facing our left as we look at the picture. They are mostly (and easiest to see) just straight up from the center of the headdress and to the left. Squint your eyes and you can see the eyes which then makes it easy to see the entire head and beak. The heads are different sizes, but look for them to be approximately the size of the Indian’s head and headdress, some smaller and some a bit larger. These eagles’ heads fan out all being profiles of the eagles and all of the eagles looking to our left. They are layered and just fan out.

The wolf’s face is toward the upper right corner (our right as we look at picture). It is much larger than the eagles. It is a straight on look at the face, not a profile shot, but the face is actually at an angle with the top of the head at about a 2 o’clock position and the nose at about a 7 o’clock position. Look for the bush/plant growing up from the Indian’s headdress and just slightly to the right. It is the last of the noticeable plants going up toward the top of the picture in that area. The tip of the top of that plant is on a rock that goes at the angle of the wolf’s face. This rock is actually in the center going down the wolf’s muzzle and up toward and around the wolf’s eye (our left, the wolf’s right eye). You should be able to pick out the two eyes now, which are at an angle but with the top eye being in an 11 o’clock position and the bottom (our right, wolf’s left eye) in about the 5 o’clock position.

    Hope this helps!

  82. I see nothing. Somebody really needs to highlight these in red or something!!! I see eagle eyes everywhere, but not the wolf in the top right. I kind of get the one in the left corner though. HELP ME!!!!!!!

  83. The eagle heads are fairly easy to see if you squint your eyes slightly out of focus like you would with a 3D pic. Still can’t see the wolf/wolves though.

  84. You have to really sit back from the picture to see. Took me a while, but sit back a few feet from your computer screen and stare at the headdress. You’ll suddenly see a dozen or so eagle that surround his head.

  85. I see wolves heads and eagle heads. Some are much easier to spot than others. 1 wolves head is to the left on the Indians head and above the left of the wolves head there is also an eagle. Above that eagle head is another, then another. I can also see another wolves head in there too, but not sure if it is supposed to be.

  86. there are thirteen eagles different sizes radiating all around the indian if you want to see a large wolf you can but it is not a good one its all about the eagles some have there mouths open some dont some have dark beaks;

  87. There are lots of eagles in the snow fanned out behind him like a peacock tail :) no wolves but you can make up wolves our to the patterns if you like :)

  88. 13….maybe 14 eagle heads….lost count. Just a tip…look for the eyes in the rocks/snow above the Native American.

  89. OMG! I see a HORSE head! The snow is the profile of the horse…the lit up snow…reply to me if u see it!!

  90. You should be able to find 14 eagle heads in the snow/rocks. It takes awhile to get used to looking, but they start to jump out at you.
