The Water Man Illusion

Probably triggered by recent articles: spinning girl and spinning man, one of our visitors named Daniel, submitted this photo and named it The Water Man. I believe Daniel also saw one of our previous billboard illusions titled “The Water Full of life“, and wanted to provide similar, masculine version. Previous (feminine) illusion was very similar in it’s nature, and pictured a water shape of a woman with her arms spread wide in the air. I don’t think I need to point where the illusion hides, but would like to let Daniel describe how his photo was born: “Hi, now that the Olympics are very close, you might consider this picture for your blog. I took it few days ago on a Golf Club near Karlsruhe in Germany. First time when I saw it it, it looked like there was a man bowling! Regards, Daniel”. Can you see the same thing? Remember, this is a photo of a water tap, not frozen ice like I first presumed.

  1. I don’t exactly see the whole picture, but i see the basic shape of a guy bowling…it does looks a lot like ice o___o
is it just me or is the water like…splitting in half…?
    kind of weird, but cool.
    uhhm, first comment? (maybe.) :D

  2. Wow that’s a good one. At first i thought it was a male figure with abstract proportion. But now i can see the man bowling despite his terrible bowling posture.

  3. Great photograph!! I should brag that I got first post, because there are currently no posts. But then I would look like a moron when someone posted earlier in the day and their comment hasn’t gotten approved.

  4. Pretty cool, especially if it’s real ;) Anyway, Mighty Magic Tricks should be restored. As I’ve said before. If you need someone to run it I will, I already have a lot of tricks which would fit the site :D

  5. I love these, thank you Daniel. I am confused though, you state that YOU took this photo at a golf course and then you state it is not frozen ice like I first presumed. If you took the photo, wouldn’t you know it was water and not ice?

  6. Wow, that’s very cool. If it’s not photoshopped at all like the story suggests), then colour me impressed!

  7. First!!!!!!!!! Anyways…does anyone else see a face of a man smiling really big? It kind of looks like a mask…its right below the “arm” …I guess where the “legs” would be. I don’t know, maybe I’m just seeing things…but I definately see a face.

  8. Well… I’m not sure… this kind of water effects can be done easily in Photoshop if you know how to use it.

  9. at first i thought it was gonna be one of those illusions where you can’t tell if the water comes towards you or goes away..
    two in one!

  10. I have a photo I took a few months ago of a rainbow while driving and checking it the other day(low and behold)I noticed several unidentified flying objects.I noticed your site on bb applications and am wondering if this photo would be of any interest to you.I was thinking of having it published in a local paper but I’m sure many folk won’t even recognise the objects or see the optical illusion for what I think it can only be otherwise my only other explanation is that threr are several flying objects very low and obviosly visible to many roadusers on this specific day.
