UEFA Cup Finals Illusion

This one goes to all you football fans out there (yes, I know its called soccer in the States). I was really impressed by the outcome of these two photos sent in by Παναγιώτης Κατσαλούλης. I’m sorry man, I am almost your neighbor, living in Croatia but unfortunately I can’t read Greek, so I’ll call you Afroudakis :)

This is what Afroudakis added in his email: “Today is the final of UEFA champions league in Athens, Greece. Me and a friend of mine went there to hold the famous cup! It’s an optical illusion of course, playing with relative sizes & 2D view. I hope you will find it interesting!”

Indeed I do. It came out marvelous, just like the one with World cup sent in by Andreas from Brazil. If you like football / soccer illusions, be sure to check 32 qualified balls and Oliver Kahn Billboard! Oh, and who won?

  1. Great ones! But in the thrird photo there’s someone between the cup and the man…so the optical illusion doesn’t work.
    What can I say?FORZA MILAN!!!!

  2. nice illusions:D fortunately, I’m able to read Greek. The sign says Eisodos indeed, and the dude’s called Panagiooteis Katsalouleis (phonetic). Yeah!

  3. It doesnt work because the edge of the cup is in shadaow. Assuming the cup is cemetrical, the hand holding the side of the cup should be about 1/2 a foot to the right.
