Stereo Animated 3D Illusions

Luciano Passuello made this awesome discovery! I was always a big fan of stereo animated gifs that let you see images in 3D, partially because I never had succes seeing stereograms with hidden messages. These are easy to observe, and the effect is extraordinary! If you remember we had an awesome 3D animation of Jurassic Park dinosaur (that even made a front page on Digg), as well as some other awesome stereo images like: 3D Fireplace and Stereo Forrest. I’m sure you’ll adore these as well. Don’t forget to jump inside this article to see the full collection of 9 stereo photos.

Which one did you like the best? My favorites are the first one, and the second one because it gives you impression the strange vehicle is actually driving continuously. This is what Luciano wrote in his email: “Hi, I just came across this, and thought you would like it. Keep up the excellent work on the website!”

Oh, almost forgot! Having a younger brother can be fun sometimes (especially when you bully him). Well, he just took over Mighty Tricks website, so you can expect daily updates and better tricks from now on. He thinks he just did a first cool post – I say: “Nice Try”!

  1. i love these illusions, thanks Vurdlak. by the way, if you look at the last image, the pinky finger on the wall seems to be covered by a square of white paint in one of the two frames. anyway, does anyone know how to make these? cos these images are really cool =D

  2. This is the first time that I have ever seen an animated 3-D gif like these… and the 3-D Jurassic Park animation is cool too. I think the best out of the bunch is the subtle one at the end, with the painter, but what is with the pinkie finger getting short, then long? The girl’s arm along with the roller brush is really a cool view (foreshortened).

  3. These are skipping 2D images that look 3D … what else is an illusion??? Love this site and these .gif’s as well. Good work!

  4. These are made just by taking two pictures right next to each other, either with two cameras or of a still area with one camera. Then you take both pictures and put them onto the computer. Then using any program, play them back and forth fairly quickly..

  5. These are all really cool. my favoraite is the second because it looks like they are accually moving along the beach.

  6. Nice illusions mate.

I understand that your brother took over Mighty Magic Tricks, I just hope he does work as great as you do.

  7. Cool. If u look at the image with the 4 people infront ov da dok in the rite way so that u can see about a half inch into da next 1, dat next 1 looks kinda loox like it gos <<>><<>> instead of<><><><><>

  8. Ur bros cool. iz wat he said tru? No really. cud u givve me a link 2 his complete profile? I discovered something rely kool. U kan look at anything with a wite dot neer da middle ov it and u can c all kinds ov kool colors and shapes wen u close ur eyes and wen u bink alot its different, but wen u clos ur eyes agaiin it gos 2 the original thing u saw da first time u closed ur eyes. I sa a spectrum on mi glovebox. I mite send u a picture ov mi glovebox if it worx on da computer, but thees things work much better in reel life.

  9. Nathan…….. reading your post makes me sad. You can’t speak. I really don’t understand anything you said. Please get an education.

  10. I DON’T GET IT!!! What is macromania and everybody talking about. I SEE NO FRAMES!!! IT’S JUST A SINGLE PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. These are pretty cool!

And Anon … What’s sad is that a lot of schools are allowing that crap. It hurts the mind and the eyes to try to decipher, doesn’t it? I wonder how a whole generation will do in the business world when they can’t write anything.

  12. I can only stare at these for so long before my head begins to hurt. Seriously, The way the images rapidly move is similar to what I see when I begin to suffer migraines.
Very cool illusions though. I especially like the diving one on top.

  13. dear Anonymous I know it might surprise you but there are places in the world which use other native languages then English…and it makes me SAD no one told you about them, next time when you post a reply make sure its not an insult to someone else, or to the intelligence of the reading audience

  14. It’s not Nathan’s speaking, it’s the spelling that’s the problem. My 7-year old spells better than that, and he ain’t exactly Shakespeare.

Those are great illusions, you can probably get special cameras with two lenses that make “stereo” pictures like that.

  15. hey V, hope ur jails r ok. I can totally understand why u grew…. But seriously, life isn’t worth spending on porridge.

anyway, get out soon, and enjoy the change of scenery.

  16. Aaaargh – stop putting all of the best illusions on PhotoBucket – That site is blocked in my office so I can’t see any of them!!! :(

  17. Hello, there are no earthqakes. There are two pictures taken 6.5 cm away one from the other and combined into a *.gif file

  18. PLEASE, PEOPLE!
    It’s spelt G-A-O-L, not J-A-I-L.

Vurdlak is in GAOL, not in JAIL (dont worry, I’m kidding- I read your post)

    Americans… sheesh

  19. it kinda looks like that in number 5 there is an earthquake and she’s trying to hold on the the table! lol

  20. On the last illusion with the woman and the wall, the painting of the blue hand on the wall kind of… Well the Little Finger disappears on one of the frames.

  21. What’s cool is; all these pictures stand out very 3D to me. The issue is – I only have one eye and you are not suppose to see 3D with only one eye. I assume the shaking of the picture tricks my eye into thinking it sees two images.
