Souvenirs in Perspective Illusion

Everybody, please welcome Colin, our new guest blogger. He covered really interesting topic, new trend started by Michael Hughes, the author of these beautiful photos below. I wrote an article in the past about his Perspective Postcards , which you should definitely check. It’s more complex variation of “Relative sizes” illusions. Following you can read what Colin wrote. – Vurdlak

Hello!! I am Colin, the newest guest editor, so this is my first illusion post! :) Basically, here are some pictures of a bunch of souvenirs people can buy, placed in a real place where they might be encountered. Some of them are pretty cool! I think it’s interesting how some of the souvenirs fit exactly over something else, and others just fit in well. Here are some more great examples! I really like the Eiffel Tower one! Also check out the croissant and the Don Quixote tilting at windmill! Please be nice and thoughtful in your comments, instead of saying things like, “First Post”! – Colin

    1. I agree. The two house ones were awesome, but the phone booth was pretty suckey…

  1. Some of these are obviously photoshopped! like the first one, check out the person stepping out of the booth. That picture has been tampered with.

    1. It isn’t Photoshopped he’s holding a toy phone booth in front of the real one, obviously.

  2. in the begining i also thought that some sucked… but i now think they are very clever using the suvenirs… i dont see it as it should have the best possible result

  3. just perused the other comments…some of these “Big Talkers” have got to be 8 yrs old. Anonymous at 1:58 pm has got to be kidding. Hse can’t be that ignorant. Can they?

  5. they’re brill; how creative! thats the first time ive seen this kind of illusion, will be tryin some of my own for sure! like the croissant one, colourful eiffel tower, held windmill – well impressed!

  6. Could someone explain how these were done? Some are obvious like the soccer ball pen and magnet, postcard doorway, red car, plastic cup and bell, but some are just baffling!

  7. Good grief. Some people will say everything is photoshopped! It’s a person holding up a miniature form of something in front of the actual thing. Some people are so dense. These are actually pretty clever.

  8. yea, its not like there isnt any thing behind it, there is it just makes it look like there isnt because thats the point…

  9. these are wonderful illusions! i love this website! i wish i could do one of these kind of illusions! keep up the good work!

  10. Question: Did the person who took these pictures actually buy all of the souvenirs??

    Very clever though.

  11. It is definitely clever and “different”.
But what is wrong with Anonymous on post 5??? I think (s)he didn’t even get it. Of course it is not!!! That is the whole point of it.

  12. Photoshopped ? kidding right?. I find these very creative and original.I’m glad this person has the chance to travel.

  13. I don’t think this is photoshopped.
