“See What I Say…” Roof Illusion

New day, new illusion and some newly registered visitors! Yes that’s right. I’ve never announced the new “Mighty Optical Illusion Members” feature (which is located at the bottom of the sidebar, but I see some of you were smart enough, and already made benefit from it :) It makes great joy every time I visit my homepage, and see that someone new joined this community – Thanks people! Keep doing it, and as the user number grows, we will gradually roll out some new member-features for you to enjoy. Now for the illusion…

Peter Cami explained everything, so no need for me to elaborate further. Thanks Peter – “Hi, I love your site and because of your widget, I’m drawn to it daily. For a while people have been working on the included piece of art. It’s situated on a steel/glass roof above an open space at the theater. You can see it’s not totally finished yet, but the guys are finishing the last letters. From the first day I knew it was gonna end up like something I’ve seen several times on your site. I’ve always loved these and even thought of integrating something like it in our shops. The text says ‘Zie wat ik zeg dat ik niet zeggen kan’ in Dutch – translated it is ‘See what I say, that I can’t say’. Kind regards and keep updating your site the way you do.

  1. Thanks so much for the welcome!!! I’ve had the widget for almost 2 months now look at it almost everyday to see if you ad something and when I noticed the member’s section yesterday it only felt natural to join. Keep up the good work, but I don’t get this, I mean it’s cool what that they did this on a ceiling but I don’t get what it says, why’s it important and why but it on a celling

  2. That is VERY cool, particularely because that building stands in ANTWERP, BELGIUM and that is where I live! I’ve never even seen it myself… For all you cityhoppers: come and visit Antwerp this holiday season, it’s absolutely great for shopping and culture and for many other things including… optical illusions:)

  3. Thanks for showing me that i can join this site

    gotta check this one out,
do you have an exact location on this one ?

  4. Nice to see a dutch illusion on mighty optical illusions.

Mooi stukje kunst Peter! Misschien ook leuk om een andere hoek te zien, zodat de illusie duidelijker wordt.

    Groeten,
    Ruud

  6. Thats awesome… few more pics would be great… I’m waiting for the first multi-picture such shape… with different pictures when you change the angle a tiny bit… just like them Chinese-cards… you know… :)

  7. Like Peter Cami, i am also drawn into your site- i check on it everyday ( not sad fyi ) and i like most of the illusions you put up. This one hasn’t got me particularly enticed, but it’s still lovely to see : )

  8. you mean benefits only available for members? don’t disappoint me, keep this for everyone, stop creating ‘elite’ groups everywhere =/

  12. curious about member features ;-)

I don’t see what’s strange about this one… Is it different layers that only show under a certain angle…? Or is there some 3D effect I don’t see?

  13. So funny to see a Dutch illusion on this site, I really like it!
Keep up the good work, greetings from Amsterdam!

  14. Kinda looks a photoshop item.
Peter is saying he’s seen this in person, so it must be real. Maybe it just looks off as it’s not done yet.

  15. I believe the optical illusion is the words being painted on the ceiling and partiallly on the poles.

Therefor it looks like it’s vertical.

    Translated it says:

    SEE
    WHAT I
    SAY THAT I
    CANNOT SAY

I think he means something like:
Open your eyes to the world, to notice the things that can’t be said out loud due to the general opinion.

Oh yes, I’m dutch too, never new so many dutchies viewed this blog.

The artwork is located in Antwerp according to one of the former posts.

  16. Not bad, not bad. These single angle illusions are kinda neat looking. Would be nice to get another angle where you can’t see it, or perhaps, partially see it.

A few of the posts where asking for translation, from what full words I can read on the picture, the translation is as follows.

“zie wat ik zeg dat ik niet zeggen”

“See what I say that I do not say”

Thanks to BabelFish for the translation, if it is not correct, to someone who speaks dutch, would you could correct me please.

  17. “Zie, (ik) zeg, zeggen” means “see, (I) say, say (infintive)”

More Dutch illusions please! I’m Dutch too, love the site!

  18. It is an illuison, because the celling bars are painted and the white poles also have some parts painted in such a way when you look at it at certain angle (angle of this photo) it seems straight, readable text, arranged to look like this ony on that angle! there are many examples of this style of optical illusions, I really like those ideas.

  19. Nikki: relax, although I’m pretty sure you will never be able to understand such complexity of something like this ;)

  20. wow. for every comment saying “first” there are 20 comments before that saying first ! WOW u people are idiots
