Nike’s Bernard Lagat Billboard Illusion

So, I’m interested in hiring social media expert to help me spread this website around the net more aggressive. Are you the person I’m lookin’ for? Know someone with needed skills? I’m just sppeking my thoughts loudly. Am not sure what would be next logical move for us to become more widely popular with Mighty Optical Illusions. I would enjoy if we could talk this over via comments? Any advice? In the mean time let’s see today’s billboard illusion. I have received these photos with transparent decals and murals that were placed on trasnit shelters and consecutive buildings, showing distance runner Bernard Lagat bursting through. I think this campaign was created for Nike. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  1. The blur of the passing vehicle behind the bus stop in the first pic really adds another dimension to the illusion

  2. Hey vurdlak,

    I;m not sure what you mean by marketing “more aggressively.” Do you want to make more money off the site or do you want to get a wider audience? I think that there are several steps you could take to do both:

    1. Get someone to proof read your captions in order to make the site more accessible and enticing;

    2. Since most of the illusions on this page are in the public domain, you should offer advertisers the option of incorporating the illusions with their ads on the site;

    3. Encourage illusion development and add other features to the site, but ensure that they are subtle. Don’t clutter the page or lose the focus on illusion graphics.

    I have some other ideas as well. email me if you’re interested.

  3. Hi Vurdlak,
    About promoting, I’ll tell you why I visit this site. It’s not just because I’m fascinated with optical illusions, I’m fascinated with the bloggers’ comments, the introductions that you have for each day (which by the way are totally awesome) and it just plain relaxing for a college student.
    So if people say that your site needs to be more professional (accesible and enticing), I think they are wrong. It’s perfect the way it is. Although i think it is unfair that your site isn’t the first one listed when I google “optical illusions”

    People like your site the way it is, that is why you’re such a big success. Just some thoughts to share.

    Great site and keep up the good work! (wow! that’s a lot of writing)

  4. How about making a banner? Someones (like me), who visit this site, might have their own site. Maybe someone would add your banner to his/her site. I guess lots of pupils would check your site.

    I hope you understood ;)

  5. To keep people coming back, you should make sure that you post new illusions every day. Don’t put more advertisment on your site as it is (they are already borderlining my “tackyness” limit), but if you redesign it a bit to get the ads to blend in better, then maybe it could work. Then you could tighten up the navigation a bit as well.

    The idea about someone proof reading your posts is also a good one. It would make the sire come off more professional.

    Using the social networking sites for promotion is probably a good idea – there are lits more you could work on in addition to the ones you already do.

  6. Hello there,

    another idea would be to offer the possibility for people to have these illusions on their website as a link to this website, thus promoting this website.

    We could discuss more ideas if you want, just e-mail me

  7. I happen to have my own blog as well, and it is starting to grow in size! I learned that the key for more visitors is making relations with other sites of the same kind. Contact them, ask them to link to you and that you’ll link to them. Make a button so people can share your site.

    Also, a new lay-out might be nice. Although the current lay-out is allright, it’s a little bit old-fashioned in my humble opinion. Try some new colors. Think about how the site should be easy for the eyes to see, with as few things to see at once as possible.

    Maybe creating a forum will do your blog good as well: People will get to share their illusions on the forums, and you will really create a community of people with all kinds of interest. Ofcourse, the forum shouldn’t just be about optical illusions, but also daily life chitchat and stuff like that. It will also make sure people will return to your site, even if it’s just tbecause they want to return to their community.

    Good luck!
