Moving Colors Illusion

They say that if you see colors moving in this picture, you’re under influence of some kind of a psychedelic. I say it’s only another optical illusion. Or maybe both… You can also test your soberness with these similar illusions: real life hallucination, hyper-field illusion and eclipse of mars. How did you experience this colorful image below? I asked a few friends for an opinion, and got really different answer from each! I would like to hear your opinion, so please comment it. Thanks!

  1. Definately awesome, but it’s weird. I can see it moving, especially the four pink corners, but my brother can not see it move at all.

  2. For me, the colours seem to expand a tiny bit when i first look at it, but if i move my head back and forward, the splodges kind of pulsate.

  3. I smoke marijuana all day everyday, i have done so for 5 years now more or less, the colours slowly fade in and out of each other

  4. They don’t move for me. I looked at it for quite awhile and I almost got that effect when you look at those 3D posters, but it went away really quickly and I couldn’t get it back.

  5. I don’t see it moving… only when I scroll up and down in a fast way, then I see the colors wobbling… But that is nice!

  6. To me it seems that the colors are separate from the background. They move and jump around, staying all in one piece, while the background stays still.

  7. it kind of looks like a plasma that gently undulates and pulses slightly, the indefinite edges between colors makes the whole thing indefinite and the brain explores the relative feilds of color.
explore the picture a bit, and you see the pulsing and slight movement,
there is nothing to get, explore your senses, dont attack the picture with an expectation.
    just explore it abit.
makes me think of a mandalla

  8. Yeah umm… Good luck with that…… Didn’t see anything moving myself, just looked like a bunch of… gee let me think… oh yeah, colors!

  9. when i concentrate on the pink color the blue moves away from the black
when i con. on the aqua color the blue moves back in
when i con. on the yellow it recedes

  10. when i scroll up and down fast, the aqua blue moves in and out at th esides. when i firstlooked at it, the pink seemed to get smaller and smaller, then expand. when i just sit watching it, the blue beneath the pink fades to black. the white seems to slide around the pink and aqua. WHOA!

  11. I tried what someone said about concentrating on particular colors. That works for me to get motion – when I focus on one color, the others move away, then I move to another color and the others move, so if I change focus from one color to the next fairly quickly it gives kind of an undulating tidal effect.

  12. I agree with the pot head. As the colors bounced and danced the center blue blob started to blend with the darker blue color around it.

  13. move back in forth when you look at this picture. you can see the yellowish change to orange. it is pretty trippy. i see it.
    and i’m sober.
imagine how it would be if i weren’t.

  14. um i dont get it either… all i saw was that it is just there you know… nothing else… but i am sober. but that dont mean anything do it? lol!

  15. I don’t see this one moving, but I have a poster with a similar picture on my wall. That one has more details, to, and it makes some visitors uneasy. The effect on the poster is most visible when you move your head to and fro, but that didn’t do much for me in this picture.

    Oh, and I’m sober.

  16. omg look into not at it,, first the blue moves about then the background turned colour then the pink came back in and the blue dissapeared then the blue turned black weird,,,and im sober/straight

  17. Hmm… if you shake you computer IT MAY FALL! nah i was gonna shake your computer and it’ll look like it’s “Gellin'”.. you all know what i mean.. Dr.Schols!

  18. I can’t believe SOOO many of you said it was not moving! Obviously only an IDDIOT would say it was not moving!

    1. Roberta, where can I find a school that will train me in these techniches?

  19. I sooo get it, i had 2 glasses of wine over 2 hrs ago and the pink things looked kinda like they were inhaling air…very cool

  20. definetly movement for me. the big blue blob in the middle wiggles a little bit and the pink corners shrink and grow.

  21. WOW try to look at it cross eyed, like its a magic eye puzzle, it looks well freaky!!! I feel drunk and not touched a drop for over a week

  22. A 2 the J said…
I smoke marijuana all day everyday, i have done so for 5 years now more or less, the colours slowly fade in and out of each other

He said the answer there, you have to be high (as in smoke some marijuana or whatever you choose) and you start to see the picture moving i did that and the pic stared to move so quickly it was soo trippy

  23. The more I stare at the blue spot in the center, the more the other colors seem to move away from each other. Could it be because I like that shade of blue that my mind is blocking out everything else? Hmm…

  24. when i like in a certain direction, the color follows me! it’s following me! agh! stalker! hee hee… and i am not drunk! or high!

  25. uhmm.. i dont get it >>??
it just looks like a art work thats not black and white(no duh) lol":P
but it still doesnt work and i would not (and i repeat NOTT)
    call this an optical illusion!
    but good try there hun.

  26. omg the blue part was growing

its 2:01pm and im in school so i have to be sober so ya…hipnitizing coluer!!!

  27. Well, I’m a new visitor to this site and this is my first time commenting.

I kinda think it’s funny that I know for a fact that I am not sober, and I see no movement in that picture at all. Although the colors are very purty,

  28. If i look to the center the image apears to grow and vice-versa if i look to the corners. I think the pupils apperture is involved in this effect since the center seems more bright. If a keep the eyes fixed to some point nothing happens, but if i keep the eyes 100% fixed for some kind of time (this requires some training) a nice effect occurs: the corners became black with a cyan beam at the center and, in a second, the whole image become gray. This effect occurs because the eyes need some movement to see any fixed image.

  29. This is why planes have stobes, lights apear to move if they dont flash, strobes were added for safty reasons to piolets veering of the planed route.
