Moebius Wheel Guy

E Dubya who also goes under the name elvisweathercock creates interesting animations in his spare time. Two of them based on an optical illusion motive, he decided to share with our audience. Contributions such as Dubya’s are the ones that distinguish this website among others, and are the ones we rely on to maintain the first position in optical illusions vertical. If only Google realized that, and bumped us few positions up in their search engine… Btw, anyone can recommend a good white hat SEO agency? Maybe the time has come for me to finally engage someone to help us with our search engine optimization… Any tips? Are there any crucial SEO errors present on this site, that somehow managed to slip my radar???

Anyway, check out the first animation from E Dubya on your right. I think it works on a principle of a Moebius strip, while in the same time provides another optical illusion we already experienced in Spinning Girl animation. Can you easily see the wheel spinning in both directions? With a bit of exercise, you should easily manage to switch between spin directions, seeing the little trapped man running forward, while at the same time being able to see him run backwards if, and when you choose so. Oh, and expect another Dubya’s animation posted very soon!

  1. A möbius strip has an odd number of twists so that it ends up only having one side and one edge. This doesn’t have any twists. It is just a normal loop. The illusion is confusing inside with outside or front from back. From the perspective of the wire frame and the inner bars, the left shows the inside while the right shows the outside. But from the perspective of the person, it is the other way around.

  2. Hey Vurdlak, all I can say is keep on fightiing you have a great page here, it is educational, fun, has great variety, everything you produce is positive and enjoyable. You deserve more than you’re getting. Please keep up the good work. As for this illusion, it’s really great. Can’t figure out how he did it though……….

  3. I like the illusion, but because of the stand that is holding the wheel, I have to apply some type of logic here (maybe), and the man can only be climbing upward on the outer left side of the wheel. LOL!!

  4. I dont think this is really a “mobius strip” thing. It’s just created/viewed from more than one perception, so it looks like he’s either inside running or outside at an odd sideways angle. Like https://www.moillusions.com/2010/11/oleg-zhevelevs-impossible-nut.html

A mobius strip is different, it’s a strip (of paper, etc) twisted once then attatched back to itself so it only has one side. This is still a really well done illusion, just nothing to do with a mobius strip :)

  5. The wheel, yes. The two spokes no.
If you ignore the spokes, and the black base, you’ll see that the wheel by itself is perfectly possible, and not a mobius strip. It’s the two beams and the base that create the clashing perspectives.

  6. That is so cool! Here is how to make a Möbius Strip. You get a piece of paper (prefferably long and flat) and draw a long line down the center. Then twist the paper and tape it at both ends. Cut the center line. Instead of having two regular circles, you will have one HUGE circle. Seemingly impossible, this trick is cool. As for the hamster wheel illusion, I say “?”.

  7. Woah, that’s playing with my brain. I can make it angle towards me or away from me, but it’s always clockwise. Definitely very twisted.

  8. When I first look at it I see him on the outside, then I see him on the inside and can’t get him out again, unit I stop looking and look again, and then the same things happens. Can’t get him going backwards at all.

  9. I can’t make it go anticlockwise…

    Must be cool!
And there’s another optical illusion in it:

Is it facing left or right?

  10. what is such a wheel useful for? at one time some people thought it could be a tool for exorcists to cure people that wanted to bridge from a prison or other mine assignment. any one angry wishing to go to war could run the wheel instead until all their anger left them. considering that how many model builders can reconstruct Egyptian boarder lines so it is impossable for anyone to go to war there or get on any criminal pathway?

  11. when I see it I am reminded of a dream I had about Quebec men in apartments they feel trap them in a economic cycle they oppose and want to dismantle
also i think it could be something for some people to do instead of going swimming to bribe thieves to plan violent mafia wars

  12. i see the wheel on its own spinning 1 way but when i add the man i see him running the oher … not managed to make him run backwards yet tho, but that could be the wine

  13. if you look closly the wheel is at an angle so its still a normal wheel, just a diff. perspective

  14. Took me about 4 min, but finaly fiured it out. If u kinda of stare @ the 5 rectangular bars @ the very bottm & startng w/ the 1 on the lft, picture the bars going counter-clockwise. Kinda keep ur focus on 1 bar as it goes backwards around the wheel, should take about 2 seconds for it go around. Just reverse it, watching the right bar that’s on the bottom & follow it clockwise around, it’ll seem like it’s going the othr direction
