Melting Building Mural

Richard Murphy helped me remember of a mural I had intention writing more about. It is trompe-l’oeil which is at Georges V Ave. in Paris, France. Trompe-l’oeil is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects really exist, instead of being just two-dimensional paintings. It is the same principle all those pavement artists like Eduardor Relero and Julian Beever are governed by. It is derived from French for “trick the eye“, from tromper (to deceive) and l’oeil (the eye). These surely prove that the site wasn’t photoshoped, like some of you thought. Yes, this is add-on to the original melting spot illusion. Richard added:

“This building is on King George V in Paris, we found it by accident on way to Champs from tower and not seen it or heard of it before, hope you can use, its an amazing site to see.”

I would also like to apologize because of the short down-time. We had some server problems, so the site was unavailable for few minutes. All is proper again. Enjoy!

    1. UUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
IM SOOOOOOO TIRED OF THESE MURALS AND CHALK DRAWINGS AND STUFF LIKE THAT
      PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Man, could you imagine the accidents that causes for out-of-towners?? Wow … that hurts my eyes, lol.

  3. The good thing about this buiding is when you see it in real, there have been blocks added and the decorative bits that make the balcony are infact concrete. This adds to the whole image, at first it looked like it had been boarded over maybe for construction work then realised it was just a cool building, if i ever start one of those window companys that replace your glass with wood, thats what i will do
By the way, thanks to the site owner for identifying the name of the place, and for everyone else, if your in Paris, make it a place to see

  4. It is not edited. We went there and saw it, and it is the coolest thing ever. And for people who are too stupid to believe it is edited, you should go there. And besides, if it was photoshopped, then why aren’t the cars and trees wiggly too??

  5. For all the people who think they’re so smart, “oh i could do that myself with a photo editor” We went there and it is the coolest thing ever. Don’t be so sure you are right, because if you say it, you are probably wrong. Besides, if it was photoshopped, then why aren’t the cars and trees wiggly too??

  6. its all lies they put pics like a massive wallpaper showing u what they are going to build so the wallpaper whent all wavy or the wind blow it i`v seen it b4

  7. dude i must admit it is kind of scary… do people live in there? i would have thought that some wack artist from russia would live in there. Yes? or as they say in paris, oui?

  8. COMMENT 26!! THAT IS SO COOL! I WANT TO LIVE THERE! I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO LIVE IN AN OPTICAL ILLUSION, LIKE WITH HIDDEN DOORS AND STUFF AND BOOKCASES THAT FLIP U INTO ANOTHER ROOM IF U PULL OUT A CERTAIN BOOK! OH, AND A FRIDGE THATS REALLY THE FRONT DOOR! ANYWAYS, KOOL ILLUSION!

  9. i have seen it when i was en paris. very good wall painting; it looks real from a distance. if you are in paris you have to take a look at it!!

  10. Hey, I saw it too, by accident, on my way from the Tower to the Champs! I had seen it before I went there on the internet and was so happy to have passed it on Georges V! I had no idea I would be near it! I was so glad I had an idea of what it was before I was there or I may have thought it was some sort of barrier covering a construction site too! It’s awesome and it IS real!

  11. ITS FAKE AS HELL.if you look closely at top of buildings u see point is strihgt
this means they put a huge wall paper over teh building to make it look wavy
also the ppl who say theyve seen it r paid to say that
if u read there comments u notice ther the same.also if it was real this would be illegal imagine all the accidents it would cause

  12. Wow, you people are rediculous. It is a real place they said it was a mural in the article. so maybe its a building that was painted to look like this wow. did ya ever think of that.

  13. If I was really drunk and came across this walking home. I’d probably puke all over the sidewalk. Whoa!!

  14. actually it is in paris a few years bak and was only there temporarily –> scaffolding. i agree it is pretty cool but such a shame that it is no longer there

  15. o and the idiot that said that we hav been paid to say that, ur a retard. I liv in paris and the reason y ppl think its photoshopd is coz its not a mural bt scaffolding so u cant see windows etc.

  16. Yeah, my photoshop can do that too! Some people really think that the buildings are built like that! What the hell is wrong with their brains? Maybe they’ve rented the whole attic. Building buildings like that is technically impossible! ;)

  17. Or it could be just a painting over the walls of the buildings, which then could be so cool! I’m actually thinking of doing that to my own house!!!

  18. Compliments to the artist(s) are even better when when the loathsome pessimists cry out “PHOTOSHOP!”. Seems as though some people would rather pessimise themselves into a grim existence where the only things that are real are their doubts. Covet your doubts and live life like whatever it is like in that hole.
