Impossible Object Illusion

Impossible objects are some of the best and most amazing optical illusions out there. When you look at an impossible object, you can’t just glance at it and move on. Nope. You usually end up staring at it for a while. Running your eyes along the lines and pieces of the object, trying to make sense of it.

Stare at this impossible object or as long as you like; follow the lines and pieces, inspect the corners all you want. I can almost guarantee you won’t figure it out. Why? Well, because it’s an impossible object, of course!

When you look at this impossible object, take note of the horizontal bar running from the front vertical post to the back vertical post. Wait…or is it the horizontal bar running from the right vertical post to the left vertical post…? Depending on how you look at it, it could be both. But, anyone with even a slight knowledge of how things are built could tell you that this bar couldn’t possibly exist!

The fun part of this impossible object illusion is that, unlike most other impossible objects, this is a photograph, not a drawing. So, it’s safe to assume that this is a tangible object that you can actually hold. But, how is the impossible made possible?

Have you figured out this impossible object yet? Here’s a hint—take a look at the shadows it’s casting. Still can’t quite figure it out? Maybe this impossible crate can help…
