I saw this photo few months ago, but somehow completely forgot about it – until today. I was reminded of it by Jason Ahn. I love all the things that have something to do with sea and summer so this photo was really joyful for me. If you are long time reader, you will recall similar illusion I took with my camera while on vacation in Dalmatia, where I originate from. This photo also shows a “flying” boat, but the effect is achieved by beautiful crystal clear beaches in the Republic of Maldives in the Indian Ocean. I’m still fighting with that Google indexing problem I talked about in previous post, if you have some clues, drop me an email!

o this is simple…the shadow is on the sea floor and the boat is at water level. It just appears to be floating on air because the water is clear creating the illusion that the shadow is on the water. :) But it looks really cool!
Try spelling “sea” correctly
Folks, this is not exactly due solely to crystal clear waters… in fact, you can achieve this anywhere the water is reasonably clean.
What they used here is a polarizing filter installed on the camera lens; the filter allows you to discard a lot of reflections, thus eliminating the usual glares that appear on the water (you can see them farther in the image, a polarizer filter does its work wih rays coming at a certain angle). Those filters, which are pretty inexpensive, by the way, also help you get amazing, deep skies and I really recommend them as the standard filter to be used in any lens for protection purposes as well as technical. I can assure you my polarizing filters have proven really useful and worth every cent.

Erm actually from my point of view the boat is underwater then the water is not too deep so you can see the shadow of teh boat,

I also see a face in the clouds in the upper left of this picture
if you look at it the right way, the boat can seem like its under the water too
its really obvious that its abouve the water and i cant see that its floating… oh well!
