Bidirectional Face Illusion

It appears that wherever you stand, this face seem to follow you with it’s eyes. You will get the same impression if you visit Louvre in Paris and look at the famous painting done by Leonardo Da Vinci called Mona Lisa – at least that is what I heard. By the way there are some awesome Mona Lisa illusions on our website… Browse the categories on the left and you’ll find it!

  2. The official explanation is mistaken. This picture shows a face that is turned to opposite ways, depending on our point of view (the nose is the key). Is like the illusion of the stairs going up or down.
That’s the reason of it’s title.

  3. I’ve seen stuff like that in the mall! It’s those ads for perfume with people like Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake! I swear, those things follow you!

  4. Hey, is this face for the my UNCLE…..

  5. “it’s” should be “its” in “It appears that wherever you stand, this face seem to follow you with ITS eyes.”

  6. THATS VERY COOL! İT REALLY WORKS!
,İF U LOOK AT HİS EYES AND GO TO YOUR LEFT OR RİGHT İT LOOKS AS İF HE İS TURNED A ROUND !!!!!!

  7. **SPOILER** I know how this works. Celina is correct. The face is inverted. Imagine a mask and push it inwards. The eyes will follow you. I found this at Questacon, a museum in Canberra, Australia.

  8. the eyes of most paintings that look straight ahead will appear to follow one across a room.. Explained by prof James Todd
“When we observe a picture on the wall, the visual information that defines near and far points is unaffected by viewing direction. Still, we interpret this perceptually as if it were a real object. That is why the eyes appear to follow you as you change your viewing direction.”

  9. did anyone even reconise the face?
    no?
then reach into your pocket and pull out your wallet.
    look on the 1$

  10. No this isn’t an “eye following” illusion. The illusion is that the man is facing two direction at once given the attention of the mind.
