Bent Lines, Gray Surface This Time

Bare with me, I know some of the content seems to repeat itself, but you have to understand we are constantly receiving waves of new (to become regular) visitors that might have missed our archives. Still, I always give my best effort not to repeat myself. Even though some of the illusions may look exactly the same, I never posted the exact same image twice (except unknowingly). For those of you who still don’t get what so special about the picture below, well it’s just that all of the lines in it are perfectly straight and parallel to each other. I think this is one of the best examples to show the Seemingly Bent Effect. Agree?

  1. Great illusion. Keep up the good work. And, not meaning to be rude, but I know you have asked for assistance in learning English – but if you don’t want this advice please ignore…The phrase at the beginning of your post should be “Please BEAR with me”. To say “bare with me” is inviting your readers to take off their clothes with you…lol.

    1. You people who felt so compled to point out the homonyme (bare/bear) mistake that was made are pathetic. Andrew’s entire critique regarding the homonyme mistake, for example, is completely illiterate. We’ll take a look at only a short sample of his work by examining the follow:

“And, not meaning to be rude, but I know you have asked for assistance in learning English – but if you don’t want this advice please ignore…The phrase at the beginning of your post should be “Please BEAR with me”.

First, Andrew should not break the rule of starting a sentence with a conjunction–that is, not unless he knows what he is doing. You must first realize the rule before you can properly break it Andrew. The next thing you write is enclosed within commas as though this is either a parenthetical phrase or an appositive. It is neither. Also, after the second comma you use a coordinating conjunction (but), which tell us that we are being introduced to the second half of a compound sentence. This is rediculous because the first part of the non-sentence does not contain a subject. So, what you have actually written in these few words of jiberish–literally–is this: “I know you have asked for assistance in learning English but not meaning to be rude.” Or, “Not meaning to be rude,I know you have asked for assistance in learning English.”
I haven’t gotten through have of what you have written Andrew, and because I don’t have time for this nonsense, I will stop here. Well, maybe one more question. Why did you use capital letters when you wrote bear? I mean, why are you yelling at the person who submitted the illusion? By the way folks, I wrote this quickly because I became so disgusted with the constant petty bullshit of the illiterate grammar patrol that seems to pop up everywhere. (Hey, Andrew! I’m going to start a sentence with a conjunction. I can do this.) And, because I wrote the above hastily, I’ll bet you can find a mispelled word or too. Go for it Grammar Patrol!

    2. Andrew was sincerely trying to be helpful[as far as I can tell]. You, on the other hand, were sincerely trying to be a dick[as far as anyone can tell].

      P.S.
Writing “have” when you mean to use the world “half” is not a typo. It’s not even close. No amount of rushing can make someone that illiterate. Muwahahaha! Suck on my disregard of proper punctuation bit**es!!

  2. 2 illusions in a day… must be a record. anyway great illusion! way more obvious than the seemingly bent one

  3. Good one!

(But, by the way, unless you’re asking us all to take off all our clothes and get ‘bare’ with you, it’s ‘bear’ with me, as in “bear a burden…”)

  4. just showed my son for the 1st time and he can’t believe it. Allways good to bring the old stuff back once in a while.

  5. I was unsure about this one… so I opened it up on photoshop and cut one out, yep it was straight according to the program but it still looked bent, great illusion !

Definitely one of the simple ones but still one of the best

  6. Wow, this one is super! It’s the best one I’ve seen of its type. Bravo!

But when you say ‘bare with me’, what you really mean (I hope!) is ‘bear with me’. ‘Bear with me’ means have patience with me, but ‘bare with me’ means ‘let’s get naked!’ :-)

  7. Wow. That’s a strong one! With a little effort, I can usually force myself to perceive the straightness in this type of illusions. But not in this one.

  8. this is really cool the black and white makes it see like it’s bent…but in reality it isn’t you’re right this is the best example I have ever seen

  9. This is so cool! I used paint to make sure that it was straight and it was! First? Second? Third? Who cares?

  10. Great example. And in the widget (small image), the lines appear even more bent – for me they are almost touching and even crossing.

  11. SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT HAPPY UNLESS THEY CAN FIND FAULT IN ANYTHING WHIC THEY SEE OR HEAR, OR IS IT THAT ARE JUST TO PERFECT TO REALISE THAT MISAKES CAN HAPPEH JUST LIKE THIS….

  12. wow! on a single glance these lines look bent due to the designs but on looking closely one can find that the lines are straight. Nevertheless good illusion.
