For example, look what Deviant artist megaossa has managed to come up with! Most interesting part is how I discovered his illusion gallery accidentally, thanks to our Facebook channel.

When I recently started promoting our FB page, I have secretly hoped for a critical mass, where at some point, good illusions and great talent would spontaneously find their way and reach us! Could it be that we have reached that point?

But let us return back on the topic. If I asked you, would you be able to spot all of the illusions in megaossa’s portfolio? For example, are you able to see the baby inside the below photo? Do you find this real-life version or the original Baby Tree Illusion better?

But there is much more to it than meets the eye – if look at the poster from up-close you’ll find an entirely new reason to love it! Originally titled Tree of Life, this unique poster aims to highlight the responsibility we have in letting animal species thrive in their natural environment. As authors have said themselves: “We have a choice whether or not to preserve nature and let it grow. Specially designed to assert this crucial message, it forms the basis of social attitudes towards Mother Nature for the many people out there who want to make a difference in our world..”

The lives of animals revolve around their living space, the rainforest. And since animals are not able to speak for themselves, the destruction of their habitat leaves them suffering in silence. 

Recently, artist who goes under the name of bassanimation got his design put into center of attention. Titled “National Pride”, the soft-colored motive depicts a mighty tree standing still in the middle of nowhere. But there is so much more to it than meets the eye! Try and see which animal might be hidden somewhere inside this pic.

I understand this illusion is easier to see than not, yet it somehow reminded me of Chow Hon Lam’s “Feng-shui Dragon” and this is why I chose to share it.

Did you know that Octavio Ocampo is one of Mexico’s most prolific artists? I’m not sure we ever talked about him in details, yet I feel it’s important to know he is very well known for his evocative paintings in which detailed images are intricately woven together to create larger images. This is what Octavio Ocampo terms as metamorphic style. By now you should already be able to recognize illusions we featured, which were done by Ocampo. I’ve added the cropped thumbnail just so that you don’t miss the “hidden” details in this one. The rare full-size original may be seen below.

Now that we covered the important part, let me share some important news. As you see I’m doing some major improvements on this site lately. Unfortunately, not always do things go smooth. Luckily, Jill is helping me with the content so I’m given more time to concentrate on the technical part. Before I can proceed with more upgrades, I need you to help me by answering these few (short) questions:

• I believe the “random illusion” button is finally fixed. Is it working correctly for you? Does it bring you to a new random illusion each time you click it?

• Some of our users have reported annoying pop-up ads. As I never allowed those, I think I have identified and disabled them. Do you still encounter misbehaving or ugly adds? Please send me some screenshots at vurdlak@gmail.com if yes, so I can investigate further!
• One of our visitors reported he has been redirected to some spammy “Mac Defender” website. Has this happened to you in the past day or two?

• Few days ago, there has been caching technology implemented to our site. Do you see any improvement in speed when you open this site? Is there something you still find buggy?

• What is the main thing you dislike on moillusions.com, something that makes you not want to visit this site again?

Regarding the painting, it’s another creation by famous Octavio Ocampo. Observe it closely. How long does it take before you notice additional persons present? Don’t stop before you found all four of them! Perhaps there more, let’s see how many of them have you identified?

The secret lies in the branches

I don’t feel much inspired for writing today, better yet – last few days I was completely hit by writers block. Above all this, my keypad stopped responding when I enter “space” tab. I think there is some kind of food element stuck beneath it, but who knows. So after I wrote this article, I needed to copy-paste each “space” line between words and construction elements. Think about it for a second! How much of unnecessary work am I talking here.

But I’m not gonna allow such a trivial problem stand between me and this blog. No way! I already purchased Dell’s wireless keyboard, and hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. Check the photo I linked, and please give me some feedback if you’ve had the opportunity to use it by any chance. I just hope I didn’t make the wrong decision, based only on viewing a single photo of it.

Not to bore you with my personal “problems”, I chose this simple picture (you see on your left) for today. I think the illusion is very simple to see, but the idea behind is very nice if you ask me. Hopefully you skipped reading the title, the descriptive tags beneath, and will solve the optical illusions yourselves. What are the tree branches hiding?

Everything can be seen in two ways, but what about mustaches?

If there is any particular topic I receive record number of submissions for (more than cloud formations) – it would be “Jesus”. It appears people see Jesus everywhere. But if you think our savior returned by burning himself into your toast, that doesn’t automatically qualify it as regular optical illusion.

Still, some of these submissions DO qualify for Mighty Optical Illusions‘ “picture of the day”. For example, I have included three of them into this post. The third illusion is somehow unsafe (so I included it as link only). It still makes a nice resemblance, though. If you’re easily offended, please don’t click this link. The second one can be seen on your right. I like how the author made every part of the painting have double function; ie. “Big Jesus’s” eye can also represent a cloth hanging from the cross, torso of the Jesus on the cross may be seen as a nose of the Big Jesus as well, etc… Only thing I’m not really sure about is the left mustache of the Big Jesus. What does it represent on the small Jesus? Please help me.

Another interesting photo was submitted by Stals. He wrote the full background, so let’s give him opportunity him explain it:  “First off Let me give you a little background about this image. I live in Northeast Philadelphia. My mom’s house is on the 4100 block of Hellerman Street in the Mayfair section. When I was 13 years old, a local phenomenon happened! Two blocks from my house a tree had been recently trimmed by city workers to get the branches away from the telephone wires and other wires in the area. One night someone noticed that as the streetlight came on you could see a clear image of Jesus hanging from the cross! It isn’t there any more unfortunately. The sight brought people from all over the world and blocked off the block. The local people on the block decided it was best to have the tree trimmed again to eliminate the illusion. This was Sterling streets claim to fame. They even made headlines on MTV news! That was pretty exciting to a 13 year old. What do you guys think? There were thousands of pictures sold and thousands upon thousands came to see it. It’s a shame that it’s all but forgotten now.”
