I love funny comics. I love them even more when they use an optical illusion as part of the joke. One such perfect example is this psychiatric session comic, sent to me recently by my friend Marin. I’m pretty sure we’ve already featured the floating beans wallpaper at some point in time, but today’s example puts the “seemingly animated” pattern in completely different surrounding – a shrink’s office! So, have you been drinking much coffee lately?

I receive over a dozen illusion submissions each day, and sometimes these submissions include somewhat “edgy” content. The problem is, they often work really well – sometimes even too well to be precise! Then it comes to me to decide how should I handle this situation most precociously.

Even though I may endorse such optical illusions that ONLY imply NSFW content (while in reality being perfectly safe), I still wouldn’t want them showing inside your desktop widgets and gadgets, potentially bringing you in awkward situation of some sort. Thus, I have decided to place this simple, non-related socket illusion (above) to have something to fill your gadget with. Before you start complaining how these might lack taste, I can assure you the illusions they hold work really great! Hope you like what you’re about to see inside this article! Horsemanning: The Illusion Meme

If you follow internet photo trends, then you’ve probably already seen planking and owling in action. While those memes have no real place here, the newest photo trend, horsemanning, is a perfect match for an illusions blog.

Horsemanning is actually an example of everything old becoming new again. While the trend has been exploding across the net, it actually was a big fad in 1920′s photography. The process is pretty basic: arrange two people so one person’s head can’t be seen and the other person’s head is the only part of their body that can be seen. In the twenties, this was a popular way to imitate the headless horseman from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

The modern incarnation of the trend started when someone found the image below at a flea market and then uploaded it on to the net.

Being as how planking and owling both peaked in popularity shortly before this image came out, it’s not too surprising that the trend became huge immediately. It even has its own Facebook fanpage and homepage. What do you guys think of the fad, is it fun? Funny? Or just plain stupid?

Now let me show you something funny I stumbled upon recently… Actually, I’m not 100% sure whether I found it myself or it was submitted to me by one of our fans. Whichever it is, be sure to take a moment of your time and carefully observe the attached photo. Have you noticed anything strange in it? How about them cups of hot chocolate? Anything suspicious? If you still have trouble guessing, you may find the solution in here. Now admit it, how many of you got it right?

King Kong Optical Illusion

Ellen (erwtj3 from previous post) pointed me to another funny optical illusion. I definitely agree with her evaluation how this probably isn’t the best illusion around, and even though quite obvious, it’s still one in a million shot. What it depicts is a gigantic baboon bearing down on the packed car, angrily pounding his clenched furry fist on the roof. Daily Mail characterized it as a scene from a spin-off version of King Kong. The photo was taken at Knowsley Safari Park, in Merseyside, and the baboon was perched on the windscreen of photographer Chez Owen’s car with its arm out. What you already guessed, split-second timing and the angle of the shot make it seem many times bigger than it is… still funny though!

Side-Car Optical Illusion

Back in February, I promised I’ll post another one of them marvelous animated submission E. Dubya aka elvisweathercock created. Have to admit I completely forgot about my promise, but I believe it’s never too late fixing these kind of errors! So here you go… see what Crazy Car (one we already blogged about) looks like when being in action! The illusion isn’t subtle – on the contrary! It’s immediately obvious something strange is going on with them wheels. But what I found more interesting, when observing the showcased animation, your brain has trouble realizing what your eyes immediately understood. P.S. This isn’t the only illusion present – which way do you see the car driving? Is it both?

Mighty Kid Optical Illusion

Here’s a funny photo I just received moments ago! No need to explain the illusion (or is it illusion at all!?), and I believe most of you will see it instantly! Now the only thing left is for me to decide whether I should categorize this as Funny or Scary! Perhaps both.. The only hint I can give you, is that it wouldn’t be wise to anger this kid. He might slap you, and if he was left handed – it wouldn’t end up well for you… Enjoy!

BTW, I have acknowledged your comments about the “annoying” ad that expands and pushes the content down. As much as it disturbs you, please be kind and endure this with me for few more days until the campaign is over. We got ourselves a brand new dedicated server recently (which costs thousands of dollars), so bear with me cause them ads pay for site operations, and cover all of the expenses. I’ll see what I can do about it, but the alternate “donation” route isn’t something I would prefer…

Young Lady, Old CLEANER Illusion

So, Wedde-Lynn Doe sent us this funny comic the other day. Her timing was perfect, because just today I’ve stumbled upon an exactly the same real life illusion! Both of them can be seen inside this article. I think that guy is going to be disappointed when he sees what’s casting that shadow in the first picture… Does this illusion ring any bell? What if I showed you this one first?

Ever seen something so dumb, that it’s actually good? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you obviously missed Evil Dead trilogy, and haven’t seen a single SNL episode. Well, when I opened my mailbox to see some optical illusion trends, I was amazed to see how popular this photo became in such a short notice. It still bugs me, but I decided to share it with you! Could this instead be the most complex magic trick ever? I surely doubt so… Watch how this dude pulls an optical illusion, sort off.

Still No Luck Finding Jobs

You may recall how few months ago we posted some pretty cool posters from JobsInTown, a company that helps people in selling their work. These billboards weren’t much of an illusion, but still they provided one hell of a laugh. I had 3 or 4 of this ads scattered among few of the archived posts, but today (while browsing the net) I found the full collection . I’ve included 5 of these you probably never saw before, but just in case I added previous ones in high res, and included them inside our new galleries. I had a though time picking the coolest one for our main image, but guess you will tell me which one stands out of the crowd. If someone missed what these are all about, well the idea was to give people a clue they sometimes deserve more in their life. Just hope that in reality JobsInTown lacks a history of connecting people with similar exploiting jobs.

Few months later, life's STILL too short for the wrong job...
