There is an old English saying which points how those of similar taste congregate in groups. You may find this phrase in the title of today’s post. I think it fits perfectly with today’s picture, do you agree? You can find more similar face illusions if you check the #face tag, meanwhile let me tell you more about the saying. Did you know that the first known citation found in print (of the currently used English version) appeared waaay-back in 1599. It was The Dictionarie complied by the English lexicographer John Minsheu. The language was little more stylish back then, so the original went something like this:

Face in Branches Illusion

In a Photoshop contest, held 2 weeks ago (where main topic involved optical illusions), there was an interesting submission I almost overlooked. As you can see, Justin manipulated the below photo in such a way, that there is a girl’s face hidden somewhere inside of it. Don’t let the Moebius strip drive your attention a way, it’s more about the branches. I had some trouble seeing the illusion at first, mostly because I was heavily influenced by our widget’s logo (it uses the illusion in pretty similar way). There was also an illusion where you had to spot the baby hidden inside the tree branches. So I thought Justin just had modernized one of these two. Hidden Coffee Faces and Bugs

Long time viewers will immediately think of this optical illusion when they gaze their eyes on the photo below. Yes, it’s the same old principle, only last time you had to spot the hidden bean man. This time your goal is to find 3 lady bugs and 3 bean babies. Our latest submission is also part of the contest I mentioned earlier. It has been photoshopped, but this is irrelevant with these kind of puzzles. Btw, just found out this one was also created by Nasir Khan.

Spot The 3 Hidden Faces

Occasionally a Photoshop contest appears, where dozen of authors submit their works in order to win a prize. One such contest was recently held, where the main theme involved optical illusions. I love it when I stumble across these, because it means bunch of fresh material for us! One of the submissions I found quite peculiar, was created by Nasir Khan and was based on a hidden girl’s face. Now, don’t be fooled like I was! The main hidden face isn’t the cloud one, nor the rock formation below what seems to be an impossible object of some sort. It’s something else instead. Closest hint I can give you is to look for the negative space. Something very similar to this one. Do you see it now?

A Street Art Optical Illusion

Wooster Collective points us to a remarkable piece of street art, that appeared on the streets of Berlin few weeks ago. What you can see in this photo below, is a creation by an unknown artist, who has created a subtle but effective lenticular image on the slats of a fence. Head-on it doesn’t look like much, but when you move yourself to the left (or right), an image of a face appears. That’s it for today! I’m feeling a little bit feverish, so pardon the lack of text until I get well…

Garbage Face Optical Illusion

So, the illusion was lil’ too obvious for us yesterday, ayeh? I agree. But look at what birdie brought in today! Once again you’ll notice some kind of face figure, moreover it’s easy to see the face again, but the main difference between this and previous Octavio’s artwork is that the formation on your right wasn’t painted. It’s a real-life scene, and the image you see is a photo of an actual “exhibit”.

I’m not exactly sure of the origin, and whether this is some kind of prepared art installation, or maybe an “accidental” gem instead. With later being less possible, I believe that the person who deposited all the junk at this particular location, knew exactly what he or she was doing, and how to arrange all the garbage to form something that makes sense. This optical illusion greatly reminds me of what the store owner in Burkina Faso did to his shop.

Victoria’s Secret Optical Illusion

Never mind the title, it’s just something I did to connect the fun-fact of the day. It’s something our lady fans may find interesting, rest of you can easily skip the following few lines… Well, by now you all know I’m located in Europe, more specifically – Croatia. As it happens, my girlfriend has ordered some stuff from Victora’s Secret US online shop. What struck me, was the fact she placed her order two days ago, and the shipment has already arrived today?! She didn’t even pay for faster service! Her order should have arrived weeks from now. Anyone knows how is it possible for US shops to send their stuff so fast? This gives me something to think about. Maybe I should order my iPad the same way… Just to make it clear, I’m not doing commercial for anyone here, this is just something I find peculiar.

Anyhow, not to bore you with my personal fascinations, let’s see what Octavio Ocampo has prepared for us today. You may know him by his famous Flower-faced Paintings, only this time the illusion is more obvious. Personally, I like when artists make their illusions more subtle, but I’m not the majority here. Either way these two flicks are really worth gold!

Fast Food Optical Illusion

Do you like eating fast food? Me too! Well, it just happens we’ve got this delicious photo from one of our visitors, who additionally pointed there is a hidden optical illusion present somewhere inside this picture. Can you see it? How long did it take? If you still struggle, I can suggest visiting this link for a slight hint. This illusion belongs to the “When you see it…” group of photos. Because, once you realize the illusion, you can’t go back and loose lose sight of it.

LG Detects 16 Faces, How about You?

Our Belgian friend Ellen spotted this new LG poster in the wild, and gracefully decided to share it with us. At first I haven’t noticed anything interesting about it, but luckily I was patient enough to read the bottom line before I ditched the photo. It says something about LG phones being able to detect up to 16 faces in one shot. Then I inspected the little phone icon, and noticed there are at least 16 hidden faces present in this perspective! Boy was I surprised! Apart from 5 obvious people and a picture on the wall, try and spot as many hidden faces you can. I’ll start by pointing out the branches in the window. Could it be a reference to our widgets icon? The one we borrowed from Sandra Bullock’s Premonition? I’ll let you find the other ones… Be sure to open the picture in full-size, and then you can check the little phone icon in the footer when you’re stuck! Just Two Dragons… Nothing More

Ok, a fine medieval-looking gal appeared in your widget and you decided to follow the link, thinking there is more to it then just her pretty young looking face. Well, to disappoint you, in a moment or so you’ll realize our pretty guest has seamlessly disappeared, and left us alone with nothing but lonely memory of her.

So I romanticized this article a little, but I’m sure you won’t mind. Either way, concentrate on this Fantasy scene a little deeper, and soon you’ll realize there is “nothing more” then two scary dragons threatening each other (or kissing, as far it concerns me). It really amazed me how well did the artist manage to implement the girl’s face, and then bring it to the the center of attention. We have had some similar attempts before, but most of the time they involved mistakes and were not-so-well integrated.

Those of you who are into tattoos, here’s a nice idea for you. Remember our old friend Greg Grease Lehman? Print this, and head straight to Greg’s tattoo shop! I believe he won’t have anything against illusions like this one! Hehe…

Have you noticed how some of the illusions have evolved? When I saw this picture, somehow it reminded me of a Young Lady or an Old Hag illusion. Wouldn’t it be awesome if this illusion contained another hidden effect, where you could see the lady’s face both as young and as old one? Comment!
