Today’s illusion once again includes furniture. What? How in a world can these things fall into optical illusions topic, you ask me? To find out, check out this “ordinary” bookshelf built by Italian designers Eva Alessandrini and Roberto Saporiti of the Italian furniture design firm Saporiti. Can you see if there is something out of ordinary going on? How long did it take before you were able to spot it? Still no luck? Italian studio Saporiti has created an interesting alphabetical and numerical bookshelf casings, which allows customers to choose individual letters to spell short phrases, dates, or other.

Alicia Martin’s “Biographies”

Creative artist Alicia Martin has been “constructing” amazing installations using nothing but mere books. What we have here today is part of the collection called ‘Biographies‘. One particular photographs was pointed out to me as being illusive. Apparently, the books in it are sorted in such way to give an illusion of peel-of wall corner. Unfortunately, after inspecting the image further I found no evidence in favor of the illusion, but I’m gonna leave this one for you to decide! If the illusion is genuine, then it really is awesome! Much like fake door opening was!

The Halloween Tree Illusion

So, what have I been up to lately? Not much to be sincere… I’ve added some new illusions to our Facebook group (you can join our group via the badge located in the sidebar), but what has really been occupying me lately is my diploma white paper. I’m writing about Web Analytics, and feel pretty much stuck deciding towards which direction to head next. If you have any material on the subject, or know some experts in this field be sure to drop me a line!

Anyway, not to distract you from our newest illusion, let’s see what Wyatt Crouse sent in the other day. What you see on your right is the cover of Ray Bradbury’s book The Halloween Tree. If you have trouble seeing the illusion, try squinting your eyes!

Type Addicted Optical Illusion Cover

Type Addicted is a typography book, often used by designers and graphic artists. Aside all this, probably it became popular just because of its front cover. Up-close the cover is an unassuming pattern of black and white triangles, but when you try and view the cover from a few feet back, the title of the book comes into focus. You can see the photo of this posted below. Each of these methods will help seeing the illusion: narrow your eyes and relax them, go slightly cross-eyed, and/or simply move few feet away from your monitor. Still, the best method for seeing this is reserved for those of you using our widget – shrinked thumbnail reveals it all, ayeh? If you wish to see more illusions that work on the same principal, you should check Soulwax CD cover, as well as pixelated versions of Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Depp, etc… Does anyone understand the science behind this? Only thing I noticed is that some of the black triangles (that produce letters) are slightly blurred. As always, chime in and let me know what you think about our newest illusion!

Sometimes Book Isn’t Just a Book

Sometimes a book is just a book, but luckily this time it’s not the case. What you see below can be interpreted as a plain opened book, but if you are more twisted, you will probably see fine woman’s breasts first. So what is it, let’s decide together. This has to be one of my new favorites! Great optical illusion, don’t you think? If this isn’t enough for you, then jump straight forward to body art illusions, like this one.
