Ink Stains and Blind Spots…

Ariel did some very smart optical illusion advertising in the past, and this one deserves to be mentioned as well. If only they would recognize how much free air time we give them, and decided to sponsor us. Unfortunately, I don’t see this happening any time soon :) Anyway, the latest flick has much to do with our blind spots, and every one of us has them. If you didn’t knew that, I recommend checking Wikipedia first! If you open the picture in full size, then cover your right eye and slowly move closer to the screen (while starring at the Ace icon on your right) – at some point the stain on your left will completely disappear! I fooled around a bit, and did something quite opposite; I’ve made the icon disappear, while the stain remained firm :) Check the #Ariel tag to see previous illusion billboards by this detergent company.

Ariel Stain Remover Optical Illusion

As always, if you are into marketing, and would like your marketed product to gain as much attention possible, be creative! This is what I’m constantly promoting to my fellow marketers. Optical illusions contain just that special ingredient of design/mystery, thus helps numerous brands that decide to use them as part of their advertising. Check our Billboards section to see what I’m talking about! And no, (unfortunately) I’m not compensated for any of these posters I put on my site. The reason they’re hear is because nicely done optical illusions, are often manufactured by professional design companies, most of the time as byproduct of some advertising campaign. Still, the reason they get viral probably lies in the things I already mentioned. Just think about it – I believe Über-success story is when you YOUR AD goes VIRAL (equals = free marketing and branding)! For example, take a look at Ariel poster for their new stain removal product. They cleverly used one of the most recognized color adapting illusions, and got that WOW EFFECT for their ad. This isn’t the first time Ariel did something creative. More examples inside.

Mega Color Blindness Test

Optical illusion tests were always my favorite! If you remember, few years ago, when this site only started, we posted our original blindness test. Most of you had no problem seeing the “hidden” numbers, but there were few among us that were color blind, and could in no way see the blended symbols. Color blindness is common disability, and shouldn’t be laughed at. For today i bring you another one of those, created by Ariel. Using this picture below, you can test members of your family or friends and coworkers to see if they are colorblind. Ask them to read the text, and if they don’t see it immediately, they are unfortunatelly colorblind. Believe it or nor, some people really don’t see a difference. I’m not exactly sure will this work if you print it out, but you can try this as well.
