Hey everyone, I just drank my coffee as announced in previous post. The reason for such quick update is because I had little trouble viewing newest illusion in my Optical Illusion of The Day Yahoo Widget. Do you see this one in Google Homepage, Mac Dashboard widget or Yahoo Widget? Please comment, because I am not sure should I fix it, or it was just a glitch (like we had one before). Anyhow, this illusion below, even though simple, works really well. It was discovered by Dan Sheffield, who wrote the following:
“Hey Mr Illusion man, I hit upon this one whilst messing about in Adobe Illustrator, it’s pretty subtle – in fact I’m not sure if I’m imagining it or not. To me it looks like it’s slowly rotating. It’s simply three stars layered on top of each other with the colors (cyan, magenta, yellow) mixing to form black. Thanks for the fantastic site, I love it.”

Apart giving us compliments, and wishing me a nice day (thank you!), Joost Ploegmakers sent in this little image he found on the net. I believe description is unnecessary, since this traditional photo art speaks for itself. The object of illusion is the same as with that book we had. I like how some artists have subtle way of expressing themselves, you’ll probably notice I do quite the same in my articles. And I always remember to keep this site clean and suitable for all ages. So if you are parent, you don’t have to worry what you’ll kind will find on this site. You can safely allow them to browse all of our categories. I just woke up few minutes ago, so gonna have myself nice warm coffee, and then maybe post another illusion. I still have to post few audio illusions I have left on my hard disk. In the mean time, keep helping us and spread the word about this website. Cya!

Alex Mora found this body camouflage and mailed it to me. Maybe that is him hiding in the photo. I thought what can be so interesting about a couch, until I noticed camouflaged person. Do you see him? You should enlarge the photo if you have trouble spotting the illusion. I always liked those camouflage illusions. I believe it all started with one of our first posts (invisible cloak). Then people started submitting many similar stuff, one of the most successful was “Camouflaged Uniforms“, the article that hugely resembles this post. If you are more into flora and fauna camouflage, you will probably like that hard to find fish and camouflaged tree more. Enjoy, and don’t jump to other illusion links, before you spot the man hiding on the couch ;) What do you think – does this illusion belong into transparent category, or spot the object one?

Timo Johann found this cool Google Earth satellite photo. I don’t speak French, but these buildings look extremely similar to some alphabet letters, don’t they? Could it only be a coincidence? I really doubt it, they represent letters obviously. So, if anyone here knows French, help us and translate the meaning? Or did we all fall under illusion, and there is no hidden message. Every now and then someone finds strange Google Earth location, and mails it to me. I post only the best, and those that have anything to do with optical illusions. I still have few hundred submitted illusions in my mailbox, so don’t worry if you don’t see you rsubmission posted yet.

To motivate you a little, here’s one outstanding illusion for ya. It is called Rainbow Illusion, and effect it produces is awesome. Just like that Spanish Castle illusion John Shadowsky invented. It is quite simple – all you have to do is stare at the center dot of the yellowish image below. After few seconds the image will switch, and show you black and white rainbow, but you’ll be able to see it in color! Yeah, check it out if you don’t believe me. You can see original optical illusion that started it all. There are variations as well, for example “Baby Illusion” and “Hydroplane Illusion“. Which one of them did you like the best? Enjoy! I also want to clarify that the main motivation for me to run this site, is to grow number of visitors and make it one of the most popular blogs on the net. But last few days I see you guys made a little slump coming back. If you like Mighty Illusions, please spread the word and link us from your website or blog. Every little link counts ;) Thanks… I’ll keep on posting new illusions as often as I can.

Funny thing, yesterday I received two illusions where the main role is played by pigeons. So let’s call today’s post Double Illusion. First illusion below is a picture of Hannibal Lecter made up of pigeons. If you somehow missed it, Hannibal Lecter is the cannibal played by Anthony Hopkins in “Silence of The Lambs” (and later in “Hannibal” and “Red Dragon”). It is really cool composition submitted by Joise Peterson. It look very familiar, right? No wonder, we posted very similar illusion month ago, called “Motorbike Faces“. Check it.
The second submission was submitted by Johan Deknudt and shows the attack of giant pigeons. Hope they don’t go crazy like those crazy birds in Hitchcock’s movie, and slay everyone. Johan wrote: “I recently become a regular visitor on Mighty Optical Illusions. Through a feed subscription, and started looking in family pictures if I could spot accidental illusions. I haven’t found any (yet). I’ll mail another picture next week. I stumbled upon this while browsing through my rss news feeds. The Irony of this article is that there is a plague of pigeons in Liverpool. The photographer took the picture like so the pigeons appear bigger then they are to focus the attention on the pigeons :P if you catch my drift”. It’s relative sizes illusion, if you didn’t get it by now :)

Melissa Celii sent this mysterious optical illusion. She explained: “This image is an interior model of the great dome thought up by Hitler and designed by Albert Speer, and is also known as the Volkshalle. Notice in the back of the hall there is a pedestal with an angel or eagle figure on top. The illusion is that this figure also forms the face of Hitler. I’m new to the site, so I’m not sure if this one has been posted yet. Just thought it was interesting that in their spare time off from destroying humanity the Nazi’s were creating illusions. ” At first, the illusion wasn’t so obvious, but when I uploaded it to this article, and when image became smaller, I could clearly see Hitler’s unique mustaches, eyes, and dorky hair (presented by shadow above the eagle).
This one is great, considering the background story by Melissa, and all those mysterious facts behind evil Nazi regime. I heard before that Nazis were also occupied by science, occultism, voodoo and many other alternative ways that could eventually help them take on the world. Someone said that they even hired Purple Tentacle ;) from Lucas Arts (?!) Oh and one more thing: I consider my self relatively good in English (not my mother language), and you probably won’t believe me, but I don’t know how to write verb “read” in past tense /or is it past perfect?/ For example, I wanted to say: “Few months ago, I “red/read” somewhere… how do I write that? Educate me!

Hy people, glad you liked my previous illusion video clip. I see you managed to write over 100 relevant comments in less than a day. I’m still under impression of that illusion clip. Not to bore you with my sentiment, here’s another illusion of the day for all of you. Well, its more of a puzzle, but it can be understood as an illusion as well, since at the first glance you believe both photos are identical.
It was created for the Smartkit website, and they hold legal rights for this piece. You can find more cool stuff on their main page. Your assignment is to spot all the little differences, and believe me – there are many! For example, see that girl in the middle wearing a blue pullover? She’s also wearing glasses in first photo, while she misses them in the second. How many differences can we spot together? Please limit your self to only one difference per post, so other visitors can have their part of engagement. Although this is spot the object type of illusion, its first of a kind on this site, I’ll try to post more if you like it, and in the mean time lets solve it!
