Merlijn S.V.P. was kind enough to submit us this simple, yet effective illusion. Can you count how many columns (pillars) this building has? Which ones are infront, and which are behind? It’s hard to decide, right? This work was obviously inspired be M.C. Escher, maybe even done by him, as far as I know. Did you like this one? Don’t forget to submit any real life illusions you might have on your computer, so we can share them with our community. Thanks – Vurdlak.
Can you find 9 people in this picture below? This is exactly what Kirsten Hendricks asked us. I found only eight, but if you can find all of them, be sure to post it in comments! This is what Kirsten wrote: “There is supposed to be nine hidden people. Some are just faces. I can only say for sure eight. Help if you can!”
Peter van Munster sent me this picture yesterday. As you see it’s another impossible object. Colud you construct this thing in real life? Peter wrote: “Hi, I stumbled upon your website and I enjoy it very much. I even have a submission for your Impossible Objects section. It’s a variant on the impossible triangle, this time it’s a rectangle.” If you also have some interesting illusional pictures, feel free to submit them to my email adress (in the sidebar), and if they are good,we’ll publish them online!
This is so wonderfull illusion! It was sent to me by one of our fans called Mike. Believe it or not, the “white” letters are actually darker than the “black” letters. This effect becomes clear when the surroundings are removed. You can jump inside this article to see the proof! This is what Mike wrote: “Found this magazine, Scientific American Mind, which had a good article about visual perception. Lots more in the June/July issue.”
Is this really a sinkin’ house, away in the horizont? Hardly possible, but yet appears so. Can you guess how this optical illusion took place? When you’re ready, and think you know the solution, open this article, scroll down, and see the solution for yourslef… It’s rather simple. Enjoy!
As you see, the first photo was taken under an angle, giving you impression the house is sinking, while infact the camera was tilted to the right :)
Michael Tulley sent in this new Jesus Illusion :) Along with the aerial photo below, he wrote: “I don’t know if you have seen this before, this is an aerial photograph from streetmap.co.uk. It shows the football ground of Crystal Palace FC in London, England. The image of Jesus appears in the wear and tear of the grass on the pitch! Regards, Michael.”
Lee Wallender sent us this fascinating optical illusion vie email. The image is titled “Momentarily headless”. The gymnist Katherine Coronel of Venezuela performs her routine during the rhythmic gymnastics competition at the 20th Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos y del Caribe in Cartagena, in Colombia. I would just like to inform you, that I received all of your submitted illusions, and will post them soon. It’s just that I’m still on my hollydays, and have limited acces to internet. Some illusions that were submitted require downloading, browsing etc. which I will do when I get back home, since I’m on limited mobile phone internet right now. Be patient, all of them will be posted, so keep submitting them ;)
This is great stuff! This quite original commercial for ICU cleaning spray, gives you illusion that people have walked into doors, thinking there are no doors present. It should demonstrate how effective ICU cleaning forumula is… I am aware these kind of billboards aren’t 100% optical illusion, but I love to post them anyway, since some are pretty cool! Don’t forget to open this article to see more simmilar pictures.
