I got this interesting spot the object illusion in my mailbox yesterday. It is spot the object illusion, like many others, but really good. Not only do you have to spot all the faces in this tree below, you also have to guess who they represent. Since the image is called “National Leaders Tree“, I believe the faces represent leaders of the big countries like America, Russia, England, Yugoslavia etc. I think that the image is somehow old, since the faces I see in the tree’s branches aren’t really familiar. Our older visitors will have more luck guessing those, and probably teach us. However, maybe I was wrong and I got completely wrong impression of the illusion below. Is that Queen of England or Margaret Thatcher, Churchill, Tito, Stalin, or have I gone bananas? How many faces can you spot?

upper left…Mahatma Gandhi? Stalin below that? I see 8 faces, but don’t recognize many.
Well Gandhi is definitely the one at the very top an the left!

Okay, I think the woman at bottom right is Golda Meir. At the top left is Gandhi. In the middle on the left might be Nehru. The bottom left might be Eisenhower, but if it is, it’s a bad one.
In the middle of the right looks like Trotsky.
The others look like Russian leaders to me, but I can never remember which is which.
Those I can identify make me think this is from the Cold War, say late 50s or early 60s.
10 by my count, and I only recognize Ghandi, Stalin, and that might possibly be Eisenhower down there. I’m young, though, so I’m probably wrong.

I see 10 too..Ghandi and Stalin are the only ones I can make out though…fun illusion, at first I though it was just the 2 faces at the bottom and wasn’t very impressed..
Found 11… Liked it but the bottom could have been a little less obvious and the left face made more realistic… Or do you get floating branches where the artist lives?

I can’t believe nobody got teddy roosevelt up at the very top!! the very top most branch curves to the left and that’s the back of his head. you can see his little glasses and everything. :)
all of these faces are of indian political leaders… starting a the bottom left – Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi (not Golda Meir), CV Raman, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Jawahar lal Nehru, SC Bose, Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh and Tatia Tope.

These are all Indian Leaders.
Topmost on the tree is the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Just below him on the left is Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Facing Tilak is Rabindranath Tagore. Our first Prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, is just below Tilak, facing towards south-west. Just below Tagore is Subhash Chandra Bose, facing North west. Then there is Bhagat Singh facing just opposite to S.C.Bose, both of them are sharing backside of their head with each other in this pic. Our first President Rajendra Prasad is just below Nehru is facing him. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, our third President is facing Bhagat Singh. At the bottom of the picture, the face on the left of the trunk of the tree is of Rajiv Gandhi, our youngest Prime minister, and on the other side is Mrs. Indira Gandhi, our first lady Prime Minister.

Nobody got Teddy Roosevelt because that’s Gandhi. Do you even know what Roosevelt looked like other that the glasses? Broad face, Squinty eyes, Bushy mustache, not at all like Gandhi.

Y’know folks, i think it’s meant to be more kinda representative. A matter of opinion. Some of them might be modelled on certain people, but they all have that generic touch which makes us able to make them into who we want them to be.

# 15 shows a face upside down while #16 is a face that looks like a sun without its rays to me where the mouth is pointing towards top (north) and not down (south). I might be wrong about #16

MOST OF THE FACES THAT I SEE (TEN IN ALL) SEEMS TO BE LEADERS OF INDIA…I SEE INDIRA GANDHI, BHAGAT SINGH, MAHATMA GANDHI, TILAK, NEHRU, AND THE BOTTOM LEFT SIDE SEEMS TO ME TO LOOK LIKE AHMED SHAFIK [FORMER P.M. OF EGYPT]. NOW I KNOW THAT THE EGYPTIAN SEEMS TO GO AGAINST THE GRAIN, NOT BEING FROM INDIA…BUT THAT’S WHO IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME. I COULD NOT RECOGNIZE THE OTHER FOUR. There are only 10 faces in this.. even the original artist states that. Anyone saying they see more than 10 is lying. Or creating images in their own mind.. sort of how people see faces in speckled patterns on floors, or water stains on walls.. etc, that are not there.

While the artist may have only intended for 10 faces seeing 11 doesn’t make you wrong or a liar. It’s no different than the person who looks at a cloud and sees a cloud for what it is compare to the person who sees the shape of an animal or entire scene for that matter. Without these unique people with different perceptions we would not have art. I can spot 10 just looking at the well defined images. I don’t believe the artist didn’t intentionally make an 11th because it stands out so distinctly on the left middle section of the tree. Do not focus on the face at the top or bottom of this section, but along the top imagine an old woman whose eye would be where the top mans mustache is and the nose is a bit pointy and a kind but wrinkly face.

wow, im obsessed with this. i circle about 10 a page in paint and number them cus there are hundreds , i am always finding more n more, been at it for 3 days and still going . what an illusion , they are al very obvious faces too if you have a good eye.

The artist is unknown, and could not be asked who they represented.
There is a LOT more going on here than just 12 faces. My count is waaaay higher. If you look at the actual bark of the tree, it is made up of some pretty ghoulish faces, gargoyles, goblins, all sorts if creepiness. As far as the date of picture 1880’s I find that hard to
