Robert Watson’s Stereo Vision

Mr. Robert Watson used some sort of modeling computer program to create these magnificent 3D stereograms (or magic eyes, if you will). If you jump inside this post you can play with all 5 of them. Unfortunately, those of us having problem seeing this kind of illusions will have to train better, or simply wait for tomorrow’s update. Which one do you think works best? Esthetically, first example is my favorite!

Stereo Banana Optical Illusion

By now, you’re probably aware that I need to approve your comments first, in order for them to appear live on moillusions.com – I usually do this once a day. This is probably the sole reason why you see dozen of similar comments, trying to explain the illusion in similar manner, posted one next to another – which is good! I was just scrolling through what you’ve said about the Monkey’s Paw illusion, and boy you did more than great! My intention was to simply integrate the LEGO block on-top of the Fringe hand, to distract you from immediately noticing there are six fingers present. But as it turns out, I wasn’t aware there are bunch more interesting facts concerning my creation! Can’t believe the coincidence where I used some jumbled Chinese character to integrate the LEGO (remember, I don’t speak Chinese). As it turned out, the random sign I used means illusion/mystery. Spooky! Also, some of our visitors noticed there are faces hidden inside of each finger, and that you can get fingers to disappear if you concentrate on the central LEGO block strong enough! Oh, and the illusion: what is hidden inside this stereogram-banana below? This one was created by Gene Levine!

Toast Stereogram Illusion

All the way back in 2007 Mourits de Beer noticed how there aren’t many stereograms on our website. I apologize to Mourits for waiting so long for his illusion to be featured, but being frank – I completely overlooked his submission. This illusion might just look like a normal slice of toast to the untrained eye, but once you look closely (and cross your eyes properly) … well … you’ll see. The sole reason why I have problem posting these, as once stated – is because I have trouble seeing them correctly, so am not aware if illusion is appropriate or not. This might be a great opportunity for you to outline the hidden image, and post the solution via our new function that enables you to attach images directly inside your comments!

Madalin Bucatea stumbled upon this peculiar animation, built just out of few frames. Never the less, the image appears to continuously rotate clockwise! We’ve seen similar stuff (spiders, cities and Christopher Walken), yet I’m not exactly sure why does it appear to rotate? Your view on this? Sorry for writing such a short post, but I just had to stop, since the animation is already visible to me while writing this, and it makes my head hurt…

Horse Pill Optical Illusion

Got this vintage poster from somewhere, and took me ages to see the illusion. The problem was I had trouble understanding the instructions written on top of the poster, so I simply ignored them and did this my way. My advice would be to look at the picture as if you were staring at some stereogram. Now switch from normal to cross-eyed view (cross your eyes as if you had strabismus), and repeat this procedure back and forth. Do you see the hand with the “ball” going towards horse’s mouth? It shouldn’t be much of a problem. What bugs me, is that I don’t see the “ball” being ball at all! What I see is someone trying to drug the horse with steroids, in order to win a horse-race! Am I the only one who finds this unethical and simply wrong? Perhaps it’s just my twisted-gambling character speaking here!

Stella Artois and Another 2 Sterograms

I constantly receive requests for more stereograms, either though my mailbox, or inside the comments section. My problem with seeing the hidden image they contain is probably the reason I posted only so few of them. Magic Eyes, or how some like to call them “stereograms” are pictures you have to concentrate at, and suddenly the hidden meaning pops out at you. With the later mentioned, sometimes there is no hidden meaning, just the option to see the 2D image in 3D. Probably later versions aren’t stereograms at all, instead they should be refereed as stereo images. I’m the guilty one for posting them all inside the same category. If I understand your help correctly, you have to try and focus on the illusionary dot few inches behind your monitor, which I never manged. If you see this example, along with its solution, this is how the result should look like (apparently). Now let’s solve these three without me! Aihara Kenji’s Stereogram Illusion

Few posts ago I have promised one of our users I will post another stereogram illusion for him and like-minded. Unfortunately I forgot all about it! Yesterday evening, while watching TV (still in our old flat, but we chose a near-by option and moving tomorrow) it hit me – I have a promise to keep! So here it goes, I have found an interesting stereogram (or how some like to call it: a “magic eye” picture) created by Aihara Kenji. We already had some illusions from Aihara before. I specially liked his magic ropes and symbols of mystery… But let’s move on today’s post. You should be able to see a hidden secret inside this picture below. Since I never had luck with these, and since some of our visitors only have one functional eye (unfortunately, it’s true) I have also attached an animated solution below this image, inside the article. Enjoy!

Krakow in Stereovision

Got this innovative steregoram from user called Romain months ago, and completely forgot about his submission. Can’t believe how I managed to skip this. But hey, we get dozen of submissions daily – you’ll have to forgive me. This is Romain’s email: “Hi, if you are interested, I’m sending you two links with one of my best stereoscopic picture of Krakow (Poland). I’ll be proud to share it and have some critics from web citizens! Hope you will enjoy my work! Thank you very much, you can publish the attached pictures with just my name and link. Good website ;o)” Every now and then I receive an illusion or similar that really triggers my amazement. Do you share my opinion on this one? There were few similar examples that took my breath away. Church Stereogram Optical Illusion

Sad but funny comment appeared in one of our Stereogram posts the other day that made me think. One person said that he/she only has one eye, and asked us how to view stereograms. I felt sorry for the person, even though I got feeling the commentator’s intention was only to leave funny comment. If the situation was true, this wouldn’t be so funny, but then again among these 14 million people that visited the site till now, surely some had to be disabled in this way. This should make us grateful for our health and good things in life we aren’t normally even aware of.

Antonio Solorio Cendejas sent in this stereogram recently. These are his words: “Hello! I Think your website is great. I visit it every time I have a chance, but this is the first time I have submit an illusion. Maybe this illusion is not very amazing, I have seen many stereograms in this site, but this is special for me. Nature Stereograms

Peter Dodds sent me 5 nature stereograms that work if you look at them crossing your eyes. I have most succes with these, since some I never managed to see. Here’s what Peter wrote: “Here’s 5 more stereograms…about nature! I searched Specifically for cross-eyed stereograms, so these wont work by relaxing your eyes.” Which stereogram you like the most? Rose Stereogram Illusion

2 more weeks, and I’ll be back from my summer vacation! This means new illusion each day, again. I have over 500 unanswered emails containing optical illusions in my mailbox, and some of them are pretty awesome. I’m just asking for your patience again – and hope I’ll receive some ;) Today you get another interesting stereogram. I love posting those, since I never see their meaning, and look forward reading your comments explaining the illusion. I also have one short question for you people – which optical illusion category you prefer most? Is it “Spot the Object“, “Google Earth Illusions“, stereograms, scary illusions… or something else? You can see all of the categories in the sidebar, and please post your favorite one, so I can concentrate more on those kind of illusions.

Stereo Animated 3D Illusions

Luciano Passuello made this awesome discovery! I was always a big fan of stereo animated gifs that let you see images in 3D, partially because I never had succes seeing stereograms with hidden messages. These are easy to observe, and the effect is extraordinary! If you remember we had an awesome 3D animation of Jurassic Park dinosaur (that even made a front page on Digg), as well as some other awesome stereo images like: 3D Fireplace and Stereo Forrest. I’m sure you’ll adore these as well. Don’t forget to jump inside this article to see the full collection of 9 stereo photos.

Which one did you like the best? My favorites are the first one, and the second one because it gives you impression the strange vehicle is actually driving continuously. This is what Luciano wrote in his email: “Hi, I just came across this, and thought you would like it. Keep up the excellent work on the website!”

Oh, almost forgot! Having a younger brother can be fun sometimes (especially when you bully him). Well, he just took over Mighty Tricks website, so you can expect daily updates and better tricks from now on. He thinks he just did a first cool post – I say: “Nice Try”!

4 Interesting Stereogram Illusions

Don’t ask me why, but I noticed many of our visitors really love stereograms. This is why I’ll be posting more of them in the future. I gave up on them long ago, when I lost patience seeing them. This collection of 4 interesting stereograms was submitted by Peter Dodds. Peter forgot to post explanation on objects you should see in these stereograms, but this is where our comments section takes the role. Look at them, find mysterious object of desire, and share your experience. Also, you can add which of these you liked the most. 2nd and 3rd are little different, and should be considered 3d view. If you look at them correctly, you will get similar effect you got in those 3d cinemas wearing red and blue eye wear. Cya later…

More Stereograms – Andy’s Collection

If you managed to place Magic Trick of The Day gadget on your Google homepage successfully, like I explained yesterday, then you should see new magic trick appearing in it now. The video where Criss Angel flies over a building block is just unbelievable. You can check it out, when you finish with today’s optical illusions.

What I prepared for you this time, is a new Stereogram collection submitted by Andy Vargas. He sent them with description: “Here’s some pics I thought you might be interested in to expand your “Stereograms” section with.” First one is supposed to be imperfect. Andy made this one himself, and is used for diverging. The other ones are used for converging. The last one, called Red and Blue is for those red-blue stereoscopic glasses. I gave up on these long ago, I never see them right. The closest I came to seeing them right, was with that 3D Dino, where I had to do nothing, and managed to see that 3D Chair. Darn!

Infinity Stereogram Illusion

Well I went surfing to find you one, and I picked one of the better ones. They are also called Magic Eye, as you’ve posted before. I’m sure I don’t need to explain how to view them. Best of luck, and I hope this site becomes the premier O.I. site in the world!”

I got two comments for you Riju, first and most important one, Mighty Optical Illusions already is biggest, most visited optical illusion database on the internet :) Concerning the stereograms, I love them too, but never manage to see the hidden meaning. This is why almost all illusions inside “sterograms category” are 3D pictures, and not true stereograms. I somehow never had luck viewing them. I read somewhere, that if you are paranoid or something, you have trouble viewing them. Guess I’m one of those sickos! Anyone found hidden meaning in this Infinity Magic Eye?
