Beautiful Rose Shadow

Few weeks ago Stephen Wulfson sent me an email referring to an interesting artist, whose name is Paul Pacotto. This email stayed on my disk for long time before I remembered I have it, and decided to share it with our faithful audience. Stephen attached some of the photos he took in the Negresco Hotel shop in Nice, France. As I understood, Paul Pacotto’s art mainly consists of simple objects whose shadow resembles a lady’s shadow.

If you look at your right, you can see one such example, where a rose on a stem turns into the shadow of a young beautiful woman. You can get a better view, and some more examples in the second photo below.

BTW, just to inform you, we’ve had some serious Internet connection issues yesterday, and this is the sole reason you weren’t given a fresh optical illusion yesterday. I feel somehow embarrassed as this happened only few days after I gave my pledge. Don’t worry, as I’ve already promised, I’m giving my best to lower the illusion-less days down to zero… Enjoy today’s post!

  1. That extremely interesting and involves a very different perspective of very common items.

I can only imagine looking at an object in a way that makes me view the shadow as a woman’s form.

  2. Awaome this is one of your better illusions but this i think falls more under the interesting pictures than an illusion.
My definition of an illusion is a picture that doesnt make sense or looks like one thing but when you look at it in a different way it looks different

  3. wow! i get how dey did it! it doesnt matter about wat the object look like! it matters about the shape of da shadow. i cud use a decorative spoon and the shadow wud luk lyk a dog. or a rose and have da shadow luk similar 2 a house! imma try dat! wooooooooooooooooooooooooooop im excited!

    1. yeehz really beautiful!!! but its kind of ugly and not that great ppl… yooh ppl have no taste in art, I’m in art class at high skool and I’m in yr 8!!!!! my work is better than that….I mean come on ppl!!!!

  4. I love these kinds of illusions! At first I thought the rose was a toothbrush, somehow. Maybe that’s another illusion, haha!

I’d love to see something like these in real life. It’s seems like something galleries and stuff would like to have, but no, apparently. Maybe there’s not enough artists making them.

  5. an erroneous mental representation

something many people believe that is false; “they have the illusion that I am very wealthy”

delusion: the act of deluding; deception by creating illusory ideas

magic trick: an illusory feat; considered magical by naive observers

I grow weary of people thinking that they know more about what exactly constitutes an “illusion” so here is the DEFINITON(s).

All that aside. thise is a very quiet beauty of an illusion.
