AT Shadow Illusion

Like it or not, this is illusion as well! Dominik Rieder from Switzerland made this unique trick. I think it would be best to let Nick explain this one himself: “This is also really nice… perhaps not new but crazy. Once I had to do some artworks in the office: we wanted to sell paper clips in @-design. The color of the clip was white and because the picture must have been on white background I simply added a shadow to make a contrast. On a background color like blue it normally looks like a shadow, but on a white background the “@” seems to be embossed. Some times it also changes… If you’ve got Corel, open the cdr-file and pull the @ from blue to white and backwards – I really like this effect… Greets from Switzerland!” More examples can be found inside. This submission reminded me of our previous 3D Stencil Hearts. Be sure to check Flickr category as well! Probably you noticed how I made some changes to every category… they are updated and easier to navigate now!

  1. This isnt even close to being an optical illusion. Its just a three dimensional object with a shadow, just like every other three dimensional object has. By this logic i could look down at my own shadow and say “hey, theres another person laying on the ground there!” and call that an optical illusion. ITS JUST A SHADOW!!!

  2. Haha, I actually thought the idea of using the @ sign as a paper clip was cooler than the actual illusion. Neat idea though.
