Apple’s Children Illusion by Dean

Inspired by our last month’s Appetising Love Optical Illusion Dean Pellerzi took a shot of an apple sitting on a table, and then mixed it so that it includes a profile of his beloved ones. I’m sure you’ll notice the illusion immediately, which btw doesn’t degrade the quality nor aesthetics of Dean’s submission. What I love most about it is how subtle it turned out to be. What’s your take on the below photo? Hope you enjoy it!

I recently saw your post of an apple illusion and it inspired me to photograph my children. Thanks for your cool site and the inspiration! – Dean

  1. I think it’s amazing. I’m surprised mhj can’t see the image on both sides. It’s definitely there. It’s really a cool idea.

    1. Dan..It is simply the outside edge of the apple core (on both sides). It creates a profile of two (children?) facing each other.

And the heart in the middle is a nice touch.

  2. I’d love to see Steve Jobs and Bill Gates’ silhouette each side… and perhaps something else other than a heart in the middle ;)

  3. At first I thought ????? , what the heck are they talking about I could see nothing but an apple core…. then I saw it…the silhouette edges on both sides the shape of little faces… extraordinary!!!!

  4. Keep looking, mhj; it took me a while, and when I did, I wasn’t sure that I was actually seeing it-but I was ! Make sure that you’re looking straight at the screen and not at an angle. And let us know when you see it. It’s smaller than the other one, and more rounded.

  5. I love this. TYhe silhouettes on both sides are delicately incorporated in the shot oif the apple core. Makes you wonder how someone could be so precise about the way they ate an apple. :-) Nice job. Thanks

  6. I love this! I hope to be inspired to do something so unique and meaningful one day… I think something like this would make an incredible gift for any parent or grandparent. Especially those who seem to already have everything.

    Thank you for sharing.

  7. Yes, Pamela, I think I would! When I did this, I printed it 16×20 and matted it in a 20×24 frame. A picture of food and of OUR boys hanging in the kitchen! Perfect! We love it!
Then I thought that it would be great for people to have this hanging in their house with their childrens’ profiles. It would be special for them too. What a great idea!
