2D Building with Transparent Windows Illusion

I’m not sure if this image will give you the exact same effect I experienced, but this building really gave me impression it’s two dimensional, plus it’s transparent windows and stuff… remember those 2D building coulisses often used in old western movies? That’s what we’re talking here! This is Nix Professional Building that is located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. It was completed in 1931 and was the first hospital inside a skyscraper. It is the only hospital with doctor’s offices, hospital beds, and parking garage in one building. Previously: “Transparent Desktops”, “Transparent Desktops 2” :)

This must be the world’s skinnyiest building! Here is another image taken at the very same location, only at night time…

  1. This is real….I’ve seen this one, or one like it near the Alamo area…It looks really neat upclose but it is in an awkward position, so you can ONLY look up at it.

  2. i bet the building is shaped as a pyramid except for the top part, that’s why you can’t see the other side.

  3. i would have to agree with jimmy and kat.. must be a triangle.
    or maybe even a rhombus,
but these photos aren’t even that mind blowing..
somewhat cool, yes. but it won’t make me stay awake at night or anything. ;)

  4. I’m not sure if anyone noticed but in the second picture the building in the background appears to be on fire or something.

Must be a triangle building though.

P.S Please check out my website.

  5. its a 3 sided bilding and it was taken in an angle so it look tthin…i think..wow and i sounded so smrt at first….hee hee hee…
    =^.^=

  6. This is a triangular building isn’t it? and you can only see it in one angle. Try Making a triangular prism with paper. Move around until it just looks like one plain sheet of paper. There’s a building like that near where I live. I pass it by with my care then after a few meters I can see it’s actually triangular. =]

  7. all but a few of you are unbelievably stupid. the picture of the bldg at night has a shadow on the left side. now photoshop the black out and put in blue. man. you’re dumb

  8. this is no digital trick, i have been there and seen it. looks amazing when you are actually there, i went on the boat trip and saw it when we sailed past, looks like it leans over the river when you are in the boat

  9. theree’s a building like this near my house. as your driving towards it, it looks like a super thin t.v. screen, but when you drive past it, the other half just…pops out.

  10. Try looking at the other side of the building and you’ll see that it has a point or whatever, making it just as fat as any other. My diet’s better, me more skinny than building!

  11. oh my gosh can’t you see it a triaglar prisim if it was trianglar it would be flat on the floor as well….

  12. Also, the building is not flat. You know in spider-man the place where Peter Parker works? The buildings probably like that but it is parallel with the corner. I apologize for ruining yall fun.

Heres a copy of my last comment:
That’s not no transparent window! If you look closely at the bottom-right hand corner;there is a tree reflection on the window! The sky is all blue; that make’s the window look transparent! Yall r so blind..(and im so smart lol=))

    lol

  13. Can we please have a moment of silence to remember the day of 9/11 when somebody stupidly let a smiley fly a plane and scraped the other half of this building….

(Dang i couldn’t put the smiley)

    (i talk too much)

  14. Well I`ve been to the San Antonio River walk and it actually is flat if u don`t believe me go there see it for yourself.

  15. I have seen this myself and have taken pictures of it. its a really neat building. if you go to the River Walk in San Antoino and ride the boats you cannot miss it

  16. its shaped as a triangle and from a certain angle it looks that skinny coz you cant see the two behind eges of the triangle… easy

  17. This is really simple guys, its just a wall of the building. As you can see, the first image shows the wall, the sky blue at the back reflects through the windows. Same thign as at night, they just put lights on the window sills

  18. Photoshop much? Why is the sky different shades of blue, and how is night starless and void? Twas a good attempt though

  19. The corner that you see of the building is like a triangle, so you just see that wall by itself creating the illusion of a wall standing on its own. Or, they only built that wall and put some things to be able to hold up the wall.

  20. Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid.
Why do people lie like that and say, I’ve been there, I’ve seen it? The building is not flat. It’s not even really triangular. Just go look at it on google maps. 414 Navarro street, San Antonio, TX.
