Does This Lady Have Two Different Colored Eyes?

I’m one of those odd individuals who doesn’t have just one eye color. My eye color changes, depending on all sorts of things. Everything from what I wear to my mood to the weather can influence my eye color of the day. It might sound kind of cool to some people, but it can get downright tricky at the DMV.

DMV: Eye color?

ME: Uuuuuummmmm…. Blue. No, green! Wait, I think they’re gray today. Uuuummm….hazel?

DMV: *BLANK STARE*

I’m tellin’ ya, it’s a trip! My problem, I imagine, is not as bad as people’s with two different colored eyes! What exactly would they put on the form for their license? Can they pick and choose? Do they have to use the same color every time, or can you switch it up? These are questions that I simply need to know the answers to!

Let’s ask this lady here, who appears to have two different colored eyes…

different colored eyes

Since it looks like she has one blue eye and one gray eye, it’s safe to assume that she’d know the answers to my burning questions, isn’t it?

Not so fast…

This young lady’s eyes may be gorgeous (and probably Photoshopped), but they aren’t two different colors. They are, in fact, the exact same color. If you don’t believe me, I’ve taken the liberty of copying the irises of the eye to a separate image so you can compare for yourself…

blue and gray eyes

Both of her eyes are actually blue-gray. The eye on the left just looks to be a brilliant blue because it’s surrounded by a yellow tint. And, I just blew your mind! :-D

  1. I find it interesting that you can post (and presumably understand) this illusion and still think that your own eyes actually change colors.

  2. I have the same issue. Martin, it’s real. I’ve had people get upset because my eyes don’t always appear the same. Even the color of the rooms I’m in makes a difference.
When asked, I always list my eye color as “hazel.” It seems to satisfy everyone.
