Impossible Nuts Illusion

Impossible Nuts Illusion

Many of you probably saw this video already. Today I watched it once again, and after all that violence, corruption and shit happening in the world, I was really touched. Somehow it put a smile on my face, and gave me some hope that there is still a chance for us, inhabitants of this wonderful planet. By seeing what is happening in our everyday life, watching news, seeing violent movies, I really started looking at us humans as a virus ruining this amazing planet. Only way mother nature could fight back against us, was by inventing some new “weapons” like: Ebola, Aids, other diseases, nature disasters, growing male impotence, homosexuality (today higher number of individuals are born with same sex affinities, which results in lower reproduction – this wasn’t meant to be offensive in any way), and god knows what else… “Luckily” we are a resistant breed. In my opinion everyone should see this video. At least you’ll feel much better after seeing it. Maybe there is still some hope left for us… and yes, I know its offtopic.

This why I’ve also included impossible object above to keep you occupied, and show something illusion-related inside your widgets. If you find it familiar, its because Janek submitted something simmilar two years ago. Btw, I’ve embedded the video in HD quality. You should really see it like it is (in high res), but if you have trouble sitting behind slow internet connection, you can turn the little red “HD button” off – should be much faster. My advice is that you press play, then pause and wait for it to load and then play it.

May you live in interesting times = ancient chinese curse

  2. Bill Moore says:

I’ve enjoyed your illusions and agree with your sentiment that we live in dire times. I did enjoy the optimistic tone in the video (corporate sponsorship and all). However, respectfully, I vehemently object to your characterization of homosexuality. If you didn’t mean it like it sounds, I’ll look for a retraction or a clarification from you. But if it is an accurate representation of your opinion, then of course you’re welcome to it but as a simple demonstration that words have consequences, I’ll be dropping my subscription to your widget.

I was not able to view the video. My computer will not allow me to run YouTube. Every time I have tried to watch a YouTube video my computer shuts down, so I no longer try to watch videos from YouTube.

    The illusion is cool though!

    Chingón!

    Yay first post!!!

  6. Daniel says:

I agree, this is an awesome and uplifting video. thanks for playing it. i think it would be amazing to go to everywhere like that too. especially that space place in nevada

  7. Rafal H says:

Why couldn’t you just bend the pole thingie and it would go through the nuts.

It’s not impossible at all, whoever made it is just narrow-minded :D

Not everything has to be straight, you can bend things (and no, that is not a response to your homosexuality thing)

  8. Richard says:

wow! I love your optical illusions, and the vid is amazing…thanks for sharing it.

  9. Zach says:

That was a very nice video, showing how still in these hard times on Earth, everyone can have a smile on their face. I agree with Vurdlak, you should definetly watch this!!

  10. Padlock13 says:

    The nuts are concave

  11. Anonymous says:

MATT IS EVERYWHERE!!!! but not malaysia :P

  12. Joanna says:

Vurdlak, I too object to your description of homosexuality as a “weapon” that planet Earth might invent to combat how humans treat Her. I felt a little sick reading that and your equating it with diseases and disasters. Please tell me you didn’t mean it.

  13. hello there says:

    Interesting video.
I find it strange that some people would drop subscription to your widget just because of an opinion that you might have shared (possibly you really didn’t share a full opinion, just a part). Wow,the real problem with the world is that everyone is way too opinionated! This site has nothing to do with his opinions, it’s an optical allusions site! So why should it matter if you don’t agree with his opinions?

  14. William says:

It’s got to be a combination of angle and cutouts.

  15. Chris w/o the Hat says:

I get how it was ment… and it is a valid point as well. More importantly, thanks for the uplifting video.

  16. Anonymous says:

    interesting……

  17. BraDRoBBo says:

did you really need to say SHIT in your blog? seeing as you say that children read it and such, so thats why you don’t include rude/naughty/sexual illusions – but you still say ’shit’? lol, not bothered, its no big deal i’m just saying!

  18. crazyyboyy says:

I agree that it is a bit sad that someone would drop their subscription just for a comment that for all we know might be correct, if you are a darwinist then you would point out that a same sex relationship doesn’t create any offspring therefore not carrying on the species therefore being a weak link therefore being killed off by a different subspecies that will produce offspring (even though I’m a Christian and think that if that is anywhere near true then eveloution is caused by God). Great illusion and amazing video it was truely inspiering in these times

  19. mike says:

    You really get around!

  20. Tad says:

    I think Padlock13 got it.

The bottom edge of the right nut gives it away. You can see that they are each like a hexagonal cake pan with three sides missing.

The threads are simply drawn on a scrap of metal with a Sharpie.

  21. All those countries and there is no scotland . ;-(

  22. Hodari says:

That video sukcs, it has Sweden but not Finland. And we are surely more better place to dance than Northen Korea, or Bhutan. And if you didnt realize, im from Finland.

  23. mj says:

“More” people aren’t born with “same sex” affinities today (it is just more socially acceptable than in years past), and homosexuality isn’t what causes lower rates of reproduction. People of all sexual inclinations are waiting longer to have fewer children, and that’s a good thing. Over population is a problem that is more apt to compare to disaster and disease than decreased reproduction rates (and homosexuality being the cause of it).

  24. whoami says:

Awesome video…and Matt becomes harder to find towards the end…

  25. Libiom says:

It is a heartwarming and amusing video, especially when all the other people come running into the frame.
To the “words have consequences” comment I have this to say: I grew up learning a simple rhyme, which went like this: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” This rhyme was featured on a PSA campaign questioning its validity, but it’s always worked for me. I myself don’t agree with the notion that homosexuality is some sort of genetic trait, but Vurdlak has an opinion and he’s entitled to it. Grow up, people!
I’ll leave you with this: The one who can make you angry, controls you.

  26. Jenni says:

i think you may find that more people now act on their same sex afinities than are born with them(a figure which may well be constant) – if you would be sent to prison, or tortured, you would be more likely to hide how you feel. Also, homosexuality is observed in other animals such as penguins and lions and so is not a weapon by nature against the human race. I love your illusions, but I felt this comment had to be made.

  27. Martina says:

    THANK YOU, MATT!!!!

  28. Brian says:

    to “hello there”

You say this site has nothing to do with Vurdlak’s opinions, but of course it does as soon as he offers one. An actor may be the greatest actor in the world, but if he starts spouting off racial slurs, obviously that will affect how people think of him. I’ve been a fan of this site, and of Vurdlak, for a long time (how long has this site been open?), but I too felt rather sickened when I read that. Vurdlak, I sincerely hope you will have the grace to retract that statement and apologize for it.

  29. Cyus says:

Well, it’s not like humans weren’t meant to be on Earrth. We’re part of the “circle of life” just like any other animal. Humans are animals, just like anything else. Sure, we’ve done things that have harmed the Earth, but I wouldn’t say we’re all doomed to extinction and the apocalypse in the near future. Plus, we have an overpopulation problem, so homosexuality really isn’t an issue. And the point of living is to live! Spending all your time worrying about the end is what stops you from truly living. We all die, so try to stay happy. I’m not saying being concerned isn’t a good thing, just don’t let it consume you. Helping the cause to fix things and doing your part is important, but it’s important to always stay hopeful. :D

  30. Me says:

Thank you for changing your statement about homosexuality. I hardly think it is a “weapon” created by mother nature. Some people are just made that way.

  31. Mastmark1 says:

Well Personally I’m a christian so homo sexuality is sort fo against my beliefs, because man wasn’t made to love man, but man also changed stuff man wasn’t made to create coral reefs either, in my opionion homosexuality is wrong but some ppl might believe otherwise because not everyone believes the same thing

  32. moze says:

Please don’t use foul language. I have your module on my yahoo page and as my youn son and I who enjoy your site came upon your module the text included the word “shit”. I hope you don’t find it necessary to use such vulgar language. It puts your site on a very low level. Sorry to see this.

    moze

  33. Shannon says:

There is nothing wrong with what Vurdlak’s opinion, it is his and not yours. Maybe he doesn’t agree with all of your opinions, that is why they are called opinions and not facts; or did you fail your fact and opinion tests in school. The Earth had to create something to fight back because after all we are killing her. Yes, the Earth is on a cycle that every so many millions of years or so she gets rid of whats here and starts new with a new kind of life. Look at the Earth’s history as far as life is concerned. I am sure he did not mean to offend anyone.
I am sure the word shit did not offend any children, most of them probably heard it today on TV already.

  34. Ato says:

Unbelievable, very cool. This video really brightens my day. Love it.

  35. Luke says:

Everyone who is getting worked up in the slightest over this issue really needs to grow a thicker skin. I have a hard time believing that so many people here are so cluelessly arrogant, as to think they will never find someone who will even respectfully disagree with one of their opinions.

  36. calvin says:

    i get the illusion thing
but i dont get the wierd viedo
waht has that got to do with the illusion idiot

  37. Me, Myself, and iPod says:

I really like it! But Matt should have been doing a different dance….. That one looked a little weird…. Over all, it was nice. Peace out!

  38. help me; i'm bored. says:

um, jw, i didn’t see anyone named ‘vurdlak’ on here & i was curious as to what they said. and yes, his dance is odd…

  39. uh…..wot r u doing?

  40. Facebook User says:

I loved the video, but your comment about “higher number of individuals are born with same sex affinities, which results in lower reproduction” was unecessary and innacurate. Homosexuals & lesbians can and do have babies (in vitro, surrogate parents, one nights with opposite sex, adoption…) if they choose to. Decline in reproduction is a choice of our society and it’s likely to be a wise choice because the ressources to feed the planet are not unlimited.

  41. Facebook User says:

PS Why some poeple think the word “shit” needs to be banned is beyond me. Good grief !

  42. Dean says:

When I first looked at this it reminded me of the old and very expensive core memory on large scale computers from the sixties – developing a cheaper memory system was a big deal and seemingly unending possibilities. Bubble Memory strip memory and more were experimented with and hailed in computer journals of the day. 256 K was a lot f memory in million dollar computers of the day huge disk and drum memory’s were used to fill the gap and store results. Amazing how this illusion brought that back. Personally I don’t give a dam what any one does with their sex organs – I’m tired of hearing about it, the only thing that concerns me is what I do with my own.

  43. Shannon says:

to help me im bored: Vurdlak is th person that gives us this great site.

  44. Effy Vaz says:

    Realmente fantástico

  45. Savage says:

The guy in the video is Matt Harding, and he’s a great guy. All the disappointed viewers who didn’t see their home countries should know that Matt has several other chronologically arranged videos on his site that probably include their turfs. You can do a Google search for “Where the hell is Matt?” and visit his site. There are some beautifully uplifting videos there, including some very funny outtakes.

  46. countrygrl says:

I really like the video and the article is so true.

  47. Alan says:

Without love, without care, without friendship…Our race would implode upon itself and we would die out as a species. The simple things…laughter, love, friends, and even dancing can turn the tides of the entire human race. i IMPLORE you….LIVE! love like there is no tommorow, live each day to it’s fullest, look for the beautiful things, and shrug off all your regrets! One simple act of kindness can save a life! even if its just a simple hello, try to do one kind thing to someone at random every day. I can promise you it wont hurt a bit, and you might even find a friend out of it! It’s far easier to find a friend, than fight an enemy.

  48. Victor Fan says:

I really like this video! Thanks :)
