This is what came in few weeks ago from Peter Taylor from York, UK: “Hi I love your site and go into it everyday through my Google gadget. I took this photo the other night, but only when viewing it later did I realize I could see a face looking back at me. It’s not the greatest illusion, but on the bottom right (where the grass and clouds interact) you can see what vaguely looks like a face. Do you see it’s eyes, nose & mouth? This has had no manipulation done on it. Perhaps if it did, I could make it look even better. Keep up the good work. Your optical illusion of the day is a good start to a normal working day for me. Spot on – I was about to say much the same thing before I saw this comment…
We are basically “hard wired” to see faces; we create them in the foliage of trees, in clouds, the Moon… even the brown discolouration of a toasted cheese sandwich caused quite a stir (and a bidding war on Ebay!) because someone saw “the Face of Jesus” in their breakfast! :-/
