User called Prady submitted an interesting “anamorphosis mystery” few days ago, and I think it’s best to let him tell the story in his own words. It goes like this: “Hi Vurdlak! This is something I thought would be right for the moillusions.com. Painting you see on the right can be seen at the Tata Museum, in Jamshedpur, India. This was a gift to JRD Tata on his Birthday by a street artist. Nobody was able to understand this art form of his. Unfortunately, only the painting was given to JRD and the artist had promised to reveal the secret shortly. However, JRD was no more when the secret was finally revealed. The painting… The secret of the painting is a short shiny steel rod placed on the circular mark on the painting. This is what you see in the reflection on the steel rod… JRD Tata himself…. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!”
I believe we even blogged about this image in the past, but never had so much detailed photos and knew the insteresting story behind it. Those of you who missed the original post, will have full insight now, and those of you already saw it, will surely enjoy it as well! I’m going to study now, since I have important exam tomorrow. It’s called “Comutation Systems”, and shouldn’t be too hard to study. Still, everything si possible. Keep your fingers crossed!

Wow! That is unbelievable.
if u look at the painting closely u can actually see that its the guy just painted weirdly so that it shows fine on the tube…
do u know what i mean?
that is so cool!
This is so unbelievably cool! I love it! :D
You can actually see the man painted on the painting. It must take quite a lot of skill to make that.
Salvador Dali painted a few of these
AMAZING :)
I guess that the artist used the cylinder while painting, to see what he has done so far.
It seems very difficult however…
this is so cool
The easy way to do this is to use a photo projector aimed at the cylinder to spread the image onto the canvas then trace it. It is still not that easy but it is the easiest way.
Stunning!! How can a human being do this, it’s phenomenal…!
I think this can be done in Photoshop
Just another example of the wonders of human perception and creativity. I marvel whenever I see one of these.
This could have easily be painted on that steel rod.
draw the pic on glass cylinder cut half way with the same curvature…..then put a light behind it so that the stretched pic is projected on the canvas…..then just be normal artist with a paintbrush! innovative work though….
