Impossible structures were mostly popularized by M.C.Escher, and since then many artists try to match his genius. Some manage to get close, while others create their own visions of impossible structures only influenced by Escher. From recently, there are even real life 3D models that look impossible from certain point of view. While they obey all laws of physics, time and space, they manage to full our eyes and create interesting optical illusion phenomenons. I collected few more pictures that involve some kind of impossible structures, and combined them in this post. There are 5 images inside this post, and I would appreciate if you leave your reflections & comments, and you are invited to share your opinions which photo did you like the best. Most of these were inspired by Escher's Relativity. Enjoy!

I love these! Can anyone help me though? I have been searching for a 3d illusion picture for a while which is very similar to the top one. Years ago I came across it, it was black and white (i think), a building, with lots of staircases. People were walking up and down the staircases and because it was an illusion it looked like people were upside down in some of it. If anyone can help me I would love to see it again! Thanks!

I love these kind of illusions because they make me think of where the stares end up. On the third picture, it looks like there is an owl or some kind of bird on the second biggest arch. Doesn't it???

  19. Anonymous Anonymous

    I like it. :-)
Not all of these are not impossible, though.

    4 confessions:

first, the first one IS possible to build, but i wouldn't like to walk on it!!!

next the last one is kind of poppular on the internet these days
    (nothing offensive, jus' sayin'!)

I also thought that the third one was real when i saw it first, but then i relized the people underneeth it so it kinda ruind the illusion(still no ofense)

and last you said "full our eyes" insted of "fool our eyes"

and finelly, keep up the great work i LOOOOVE your site!!!
