Liisa Kaupmees submitted this simple and romantic optical illusion. All I can tell you, is that even if the sailor lifted his arms from his women of desire, she wouldn’t fall. In fact, she probably wouldn’t move an inch. Tell me, how can this be? Did you spot the illusion? It took me a minute to understand it. Hope you can beat me. This is Liisa’s message: “Hello, Illusion of a couple is in the attachment, couldn’t find original source. You must have heard it hundreds of times, but I am a big fan of your site and visit it every day. Keep the good work going!”

Which made me wonder, which widget do you use the most? Optical Illusion of The day for facebook, your PC desktop, Mac Dashboard or simply you have it just in your Google Homepage?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA… WOMEN of his desire?

I dont know about the rest of you, but I only see one woman. Or is he keeping the others hidden?

And on a more serious note- Vurdlak, DO SOMETHING about the delays with the comments.

THE 169TH COMMENT STILL THOUGHT THEY WERE FIRST!!! This is an OUTRAGE!

    FIX IT!!! (please)

  3. Victor says:

LOL, I am sure this is anti-gravity force!!

  4. Rufus Kohn says:

    this is no optical illusion!
What you see is wht you get.
The girl is hanging in the salors arms and het feet are pointing to the ground.Watch the tile on the bottom of the photo. in the patern that they are layed the wall has to be flat horizontal. so figure the rest out.
    I rest my case

  5. Quattykitty says:

i spotted it literally the second that i saw it, mwhaha i beat u!

yea pretty simple… but i love it anyway!!

  6. Anonymous says:

hmmm, I don’t think so. The obvious answer is that it’s a bird’s eye view. But look at the way her hair and dress hang; she’s vertical!
Looks more like he’s standing on a higher level behind a wall, dangling her over the other side.

  7. Anonymous says:

WWWWWOOOWWWW it is so obvious!!! how do none of you get it????? her arms are around his neck, of course she won’t fall. But hey, it’s a good illusion, it got me for 45 secs.

  8. Anonymous says:

notice how her arms are around her. 98 % of the people who posted should think “If the girl’s lying down, how is her hair and skirt not the way it usually is when someone is lying down. GOOD MORNING!!!

  9. sahml14 says:

the woman is lying higher than the man. the man is standing from a lower floor..hope u understand it..it’s like the steps of the stairs, the woman is lying on the higher floor/step. and the man is standing on a lower floor/step.

  10. Anonymous says:

the pic is actually taken from above not from the side..

the girl is lying down on her stomach and the sailor dude is down on a lower level

  11. Anonymous says:

its a bird’s eye view. shes lying down on the ground over a ledge. He’s standing at the bottom of the ledge, and basically her body is right where his torso is.

  12. Anonymous says:

i actually had to read the comments to get it, haha.

    but…awe<3

  13. Ron says:

Or, alternatively, he could be leaning over the edge, holding her all of four and a half feet off the ground and all of you are taking this to seriously.

    • Christyn says:

Well if you read the explanation on top you would understand that you are wrong an d she is indeed laying on ground and he is below on a landing. It is an illusion and it says she wouldn’t fall at all if he let go…so how could people possibly be over thinking it if they are right? You are just an arrogant douche bag. Have a nice fucking day

    • Christyn says:

Ron: Well if you read the explanation on top you would understand that you are wrong an d she is indeed laying on ground and he is below on a landing. • 4you says:

Ron is right! Christyn can’t even spell her own name or comes from a whole line of family that believes what she is told.
Even in the explanation she admits she did not understand it and has thus not believed what is obvious if you notice the Cobblestone at the bottom is the ground and their shadows+ confirm what you see is what you get.
She is up in the air and would have to drop some 4 feet to the ground.
The lights on the wall also confirm its a wall!
C-mon a missile hit the Pentagon that’s why the video is never released and only one jet engine came out under a tarp.
Think for yourselves people, its no illusion unless you believe what your told!

    • screeching weasel says:

      @4you:

How would you fucking know how Christyn spells her name? It’s her own goddamn name.

Also, your comment is not even relevant to the illusion.

The lights on the ledge are facing down… The girl is evidently lying on the ledge and the man is standing on the ground beneath her.

P.S. Vurdlak is a dude, don’t refer to him as a she.

  14. Me, myself nor I says:

lol I saw it immediately, so i was looking for any other illusion… which of course wasn’t there. But now I’ve seen the exploration above, it looks quite cool.

  15. Anonymous says:

    THEY ARE NOT LYING DOWN
The girl is standing on a REFLECTIVE surface and then it changes because the mirror stops and pavement begins

  16. Anonymous says:

there is a ledge where her foot is

  17. jazmin says:

Number one you right she is lying down and the sailor is standing on a lower platform.Ya.That’s it ya I knew it all along

  18. CommonSense says:

uhhh reflective surface? Are you an idiot? Where is the reflection of her or her shoes? She is obviously laying down…

  19. someone says:

    EWEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEW!!!!!!!

  20. bigussdikuss says:

o.m.f.g….cant you see?…look at her feet, their actually open hands like ready to grab something

  21. Anonymous says:

i took me around 5 mins to figure this out >.<

  22. Ivo says:

The explanation below is absolutely right. This picture was taken at the Centro Cultural de Belém (Cultural Centre of Belém) in Lisbon, Portugal. I immediatly recognised the location so there was no illusion for me.

    “Rufus Kohn says:

This I think is no optical illusion. Look at the sailors hands how tensed they are. And also how the dres is pulled to the bottom of the picture. Most of all the pavement stones (the small square blocks at the bottom do not have a correct structure for a wall.
That is the street and there for the girl is hanging and would drop if the sailor let go.

    Nice photo anyways”

  23. Sparky says:

i think i saw wonder woman flying carrying his BF. wahahahaha…

  24. Marcus says:

Focus on the Shadows, his shadow should be alot taller, and hers should be further away if this was to be pulled off.. with out the illusion then.

  25. samar says:

I got it immediately, this time

  26. Dana says:

It’s viewed from the top. She’s lying on the edge on her tummy while he’s standing in front of her. Nice illusion :D

  27. Anonymous says:

    dana is right

  28. anyonyous says:

thats stupid its easy to every 1 i showed
    and dana is right

  29. Tom says:

OK look where she is standing, there is a little ledge type thing sorta like a shelf holder sticking out of the wall its what she is standing on. she uses the sailor as balance

  30. chelsea says:

they are laying on the ground i have seen ones like this b4 and im 12 and you stupid adults couldent get it

  31. Violeta says:

Ivo already mentioned the location where this was taken (Centro Cultural de Belem, Lisbon, Portugal), so I’ll just add that it was taken by the portuguese photographer De Sousa.

Check his myspace – http://www.myspace.com/desousaphoto -, his work is amazing!

  32. Someone says:

There is a wooden stick or a bamboo emerging from the wall right where her leg is!

Just zoom the pic & u will see

  33. Maybe says:

If she is lying on her belly, how come her hair isn’t lying on her back?? It looks as thought it’s out, like she’s standing..

I’m slow and still can’t see the illusion even after reading the comments lol

  34. Kevin says:

There is simply no illusion. She’s hanging in air, he’s leaning over a edge. Here’s a picture of the building mentioned above. http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/static.panoramio.com/photos/original/20980720.jpg
See the black squares in the WALLS, see the paving stones on the GROUND. Look towards the far end of the wall. Same thin stones topping the ledge.

  35. Friend of the artist says:

    Hi,
this picture was taken in a place called CCB Centro Cultural de Belem, in Lisbon Portugal.
    Picture Here: http://amadeo.blog.com/repository/403979/3992775.jpg

It was made by a friend of mine, called De Sousa, here is his amaizing portfólio:

    http://www.myspace.com/desousaphoto

The girl in the picture is really and only hanging by the strength the sailor’s arms, there are no special effects as I read in some comments, she was not lying on the ground.

This is a beautiful conceptual photo made by an amaizing portuguese photographer.

    P.S: I Was there.

  36. Musemistress says:

I agree she is not laying down by simple observation of the dress being pulled down by gravity, her hair doing the same thing and the bricks at the bottom being more suited for pavement than a wall.

The rest isn’t for me to say as either he’s holding her very well or something else is at play here.

  37. jessica says:

    DUMB.
Dudes, she’s holding HIM as well. Of course she wouldn’t fall.

  38. Responding To Comment By bigussdikuss says:

It DOES kinda look like there is something grabbing/holding on to her foot, but as many people have already said, it is(/may be) no illusion at all.

  39. The Brain says:

Many of us thought it was impossible! Many of us said wrong. What is right is that it is NOT an illusion. A girl is lying down on an tile or rock ground, and the man may be kneeling down on a step! Good Job to the people who got it right. Good Job indeed!

  40. lana says:

You know what I think is that the sailor is sitting legs strait out its a birds eyes few and she is laying on top of his legs. the grounds bricks are placed to play tricks on your mind.

  41. Grace says:

    they’re lying down. case closed.

  42. patrick says:

    got it immediatley

  43. Abob says:

    I think there r 2 possibilities. Either:
A: they are both lying down on the ground, but he has bent his body slightly upwards.
B: The girl is lying down, and he is standing below her on a ledge with his arms around her

  44. boomboomo says:

    google homepage. cool illusion!

  45. c.c. says:

what… how is she laying down… oh! i get it shes laying on her stomach… i was thinking “how is her leg out if she was laying down..”
