The face on the right is more into the heart that the face on the left. if the heart were broken the person on the striped side would be more mended. There is also the fact that the black side is a man, and the striped side is a woman, the artist could have been trying to illustrate that woman have more compassion than men or that woman are easier to mend a broken heart than men, this illusion has so much theories.
