Sean McLeary quoted here: “This is a really cool illusion of two faces, I’m not going to tell you where they are, you need to figure that out yourself.” It was an easy one Sean, I spotted both of them immediately, but what made this illusion interesting, is the meaning behind it. I won’t try and guess what the author of this image below had in mind, and believe it is best if everyone who saw it made their own little story. This way everyone is a winner. I am really interested what you guys think. If you observe the picture a little longer you will find few more illusions beneath. Like for example, seeing only one person gives impression of a broken heart, the other part can be seen as a shadow, etc. What I like about this website, is the comments section, and how often your comments can start a real debate, and point to meanings and things I never managed to perceive. Lets see what comes out of this one.
I’m not sure weather I should place this one in Multiple Meanings category, or rather inside Spot The Object one. What can you suggest? Would different category suit this one better? Help!

Taylor I don’t think so, exept for a shadow if you look at it hard. I think it should be in multiple meanings.
i can only see one face
i can kind of see a face facing the other way (in an outline of the guys hair)but i dont see anything in the stripes.leave it in spot the object

Men and women prefer different colors, so if the backgrounds were made blue and red, instead of red and black, we could create three levels of looks/meaning.

Stare at the center of the heart, do not mind the faces, just stare at the center for about 45 seconds, then quickly look at a white plain background such as a wall. Blinking will help as well.
You get the illusion of a broken heart, one side light blue (Used often to represent male) and the other side pink (Used often to represent female).
I’m sure you’re all familar with the blue/pink , male/female relationship…
Either way, to all those who say this is a bad illusion – grow up.
I thought this was wonderful, because at first glance, it IS very simplistic. But take some time to explore it, and there is SO much more.

Well if you stare at the centre for about 20 – 30 seconds and then look away and glimmer your eyes, then you see one heart.

The faces are not centered. The face on the right is more into the heart that the face on the left. if the heart were broken the person on the striped side would be more mended. There is also the fact that the black side is a man, and the striped side is a woman, the artist could have been trying to illustrate that woman have more compassion than men or that woman are easier to mend a broken heart than men, this illusion has so much theories. It’s very interesting.

It is a broken heart because there are 3 people there. the black facing right; the white facing left and the white facing right. The men are facing each other. The woman is looking away.

If you read the paragraph for almost ten seconds then sharply look at the picture, you can see the paragraph, behind the stripes. idk if thats an illusion or not, but i thought it was pretty cool. Keep it up :)
