Remember that show called Movie Magic? No wonder this photo looked familiar to me. In one episode, they explained how to morph photos to achieve similar effect. Wilson Wong took this photo, which works in a same way as our previous “Different Perspective” illusion. Whats even more interesting, is that I had a puzzle from Ravensburger with 3000 pieces of an image similar to this. Ravensburger is a company that produces such cool puzzles and even some made from wood (ever saw those classy wood puzzles?) Either way, this is what Wilson wrote to me: “This may interest you for the optical illusion website. It is my own photo….and it dumbfounded quite a lot of people.” I think you will have no problem understanding it, concerning experience you built solving hundreds of optical illusions and magic tricks from this site :) Check for more interesting photos in our Flickr category.

I’m not sure, but are we viewing the image behind a panel of glass? Anyway, I LOVE your site. I check it sometimes more than once a day. Keep up the good work!

    Peace.

I like how you can see the ice in the water and the trees. Just by looking at the ice it almost looks as if the picture was taken upside down.

  6. Anonymous says:

This is clearly the reflection of a tree in a pond. There is no glass, there is no ice.

  7. Michael says:

It is a reflection in the water upside down, but that’s not ice, those are stones.

  8. Anonymous says:

i love the picture. By the way, how did you do on that test? I hope u did good.

    Peace

  9. Joseph says:

I believe it is a car window or windshield (the car is rather messy)

  10. Anonymous says:

those are rocks, not ice, and it is upside down…

    :O

  11. Anonymous says:

You just take the picture of the reflection, and then streach it (perspective correction tool in PSP) to make it look like a straight-on pic.

    –well done.

  12. JD says:

i would have to guess it’s ice on a windshield.
I live way up in northern minnesota so it makes sense to me.

    Good one!
I think the illusion is caused by turning the photo upside down? Very strange!

  14. BC says:

Turn it upside down… It’s the reflection on the water bordered by rocks… Look close and you can see the creek bottom…

I check out http://www.deviantart.com a lot, and a lot of photographers on that site use this trick. it’s not new to me but it always makes you double-take to orient yourself.

  17. Benedict says:

Is this a real photograph or photoshop work , Becuase i dont find color balance in this picture if its nature! Look into the picture carefully , The trees are seen as if in dense forest and good sun light over the trees.

I wonder how the photographer managed to take this picture :) he he he anyways i love this website

  18. Anonymous says:

it’s upside-down…a reflection of trees in the water…you can tell by the faint leaves in the background…

  19. Anonymous says:

Its definately a reflection in water coz you can see fallen leaves in the bottom. Really nice photo, clever.

  20. Elisabetta says:

Hey – simple trick for many of these images is to save them and rotate on your PC, makes things a lot clearer!!! Cracking Picture

  25. Elliexx ANIMALS ROCK!! says:

yeh it looks like it was taken upside down!! very kl.

i also check this website basically everyday!!

  26. Joseph says:

Looks like the camera’s under water surrounded by ice on the surface, but I doubt that. When the picture is flipped you can see those are rocks ‘n shit and the tree is just a reflection in the water.

  27. Anonymous says:

for everyone that doesnt know what its reflecting off of, its a car windshield

  29. Anonymous says:

I think it’s the perspective of being in a frozen Lake and breaking through the Ice to get out. :) Not sure if it’s supposed to look like that, But it does to me ;)

  30. hannah says:

    it is water :D

  31. Anonymous says:

There is so much reflection that I see it as ice on a windsheild.

  32. Anonymous says:

just when I thought it was ice on a windsheild, I see “moss” on what I thought was ice….must be rocks with all that green growth. I now think it is the work of someone with photoshop.

  33. Anonymous says:

there is a forest in the icy pool

  34. Abbey says:

1st of all i love this site its addicting.

2nd if you look at this picture right you will see at the bottom of the tree and in the sky in random places you see little soldier lookin people

maybe there are 2 illusions here?

  35. Anonymous says:

Its a reflection from a puddle at an angle

  36. Anonymous says:

If you look at the picture upside down it’ll be easier to notice the angle, and of course all reflections on water are upside down ;)

    Cool pic…

  37. Anonymous says:

What is it? i cant tell. someone tell me.

  38. Anonymous says:

    Lol thats cool.

  39. Anonymous says:

Woah, that illusion/ puddle/reflection is , like, so cool! :D. I love this one. Even better, it has an “ice barrier.” So cool, ya know what I mean? Do yall get my drift?

  40. Anonymous says:

It’s a puddle with a reflection in some rocks. You can see the rocks in the puddle and the leaves near the edges. Really nice, though.

  41. No Aparent Name says:

I dont get it. what is it?

it looks like a window in front of a tree with ice around the window and we r looking thru the window

    :( :P

  42. Anonymous says:

Umm i feel that anyone who has trees and rain in the area they live should understand this, if not go outside more.

  43. lisa says:
