David Bianchini sent this photo in his email to me. Unfortunately he included no description, but I believe it’s obvious that this sportsman below, is ski jumper taking his jump. It’s really funny how someone captured him flying in the air in the right position behind this lamp. It looks like he crashed directly with his head to the lamp. Pretty funny! This reminded me of the question I always asked myself: How do these guys have guts to make their first jump?! It’s obvious all of them had to take their first jump one day or another, but how do they manage to stay calm, and not go crazy in the air, flapping their hands, panicking etc. Anyone here trained this? Please share your thoughts if you are/know some professional ski jumpers. I’d really like to know! After we solve this, check these sportsmen that participated in optical illusions as well: walking on water illusion, and perfect shot.

um…u sure that thats a real ski jumper? bc in my city we have an entire road that has metal murals (that look a lot like the ski jumper) of ppl doing sports (hockey goalies, snowboarders, etc.) attached to the streetlamps, and this looks extremely identical.
He looks real to me. I think his skis are just and X in the snow and hes standing on it and posing for the photo.

lame for several reasons:
1. image could easily have been digitally doctored.
2. not even an optical illusion.
in conclusion — stick to illusions.

Whay is it not an illusion? Take away the sky, and it looks like a ski jumber with a lamp crammed into his grill!! Most of us rational thinkers say, “hey, that probably didn’t happen…I think it just looks that way…” HENCE – An Illusion!! What a concept!!

Answering how they make the first jump (I’m not a jumper though)
1. Start when you’re 4 years old
2. Make a 1m jump
3. Make a 2m jump
4. Make a 3m jump
…
x. Make a 134m jump
PS. For mathematically inclined, I know x=135. But that doesn’t count backtracing when you are afraid after you fall…
