First thing I'd like to mention about this illusion, is DON'T try this at home folks, the guy on the picture is trained professional, and this is really dangerous thing to do! It's not so easy as doing the Fart Joke, which also isn't much safe. Now on with Jim Wiley's description: "I blow fire balls as sort of a hobbies.....the shape of the fire looks to be Casper, the Friendly Ghost". So what do you think, is there a resemblance? To me, it looks more like some kind of Leprechaun, not wearing a hat. Nice one Jim! Thanks...
I am also a fire breather, the patterns that form are often quite beautiful.. This was taken with a quite long exposure, the density of the flame and movement of the hand indicate this. A shorter exposure would show a much less intence 'blob' of fire.
Before too many talk of photoshop, look at the shadows on the shelving and behind the other guy in the pic, both shadows are consistant with a light source in front of the camera.
Not such a great illusion per-se but a great picture none the less!
