Update: This illusion was phottoshopped! Stated by the artist. Dear users, I’m sorry for this post, I found out only few minutes ago it was edited on computer. You can read it on utrave.org forums.
Levitation, Hovering and Flying were quite popular illusion themes on this site in the past – especially few months ago. Today Michael Baird said: “I went canoing down the green river in Utah with my brother this summer and finally got all the pictures from everyone who went. My friend took this picture and didn’t realize how weird it looked until we opened it up. We have not altered this picture in any way. No photo shop or anything.” Can you solve it? I don’t believe he could have jumped so high unless he jumped off a higher rock, not visible in this picture. Or maybe he jumped off a rock that is seen in this photo, only that he jumped away from us (right and back). Any other solutions? Remember: flying mouse cursor and flying ship ? It seem like just a force jump
He sure have jumped from a higher point because as you can clearly see his shadow on the water right below him….
so its not a photoshop…but as we can also see his cloths are moving with the effect of wind…so he is probably jumping off something :)

he has to be jumping off a higher rock thats not in the picture.
You can see the black thingies in his hands. He’s doing something that involved vertical gliding. I’m SUCH a fun spoiler! :P

if he was doing something involving vertical gliding you would be able to see the reflection of it in the water. if you look down a the water all you see is a reflection of him. nothing else. theres still fun to be had ^_^

It’s very clear from his shirt he’s falling down. Not much of an illusion. The only thing to possibly make someone think he was flying when they looked at this picture is the title.
It looks like a guy about to get wet… it’s a guy about to get wet. What he jumped off of is the only mystery.
His shirt is lifted up, which means that he must be falling; therefore, he must have jumped from a higher point than the rock in the picture.
Zero, if he was gliding, there would be a bigger shadow for him. He must be jumping off a rock not in the pic.
Since I know the person that took the picture I can tell you with 100% certainty that it was photo shopped.
Don’t believe everything you read on the net, kids.

I don’t care how he did it, I think its pretty funny. (If I had to guess, i would agree with Zero) Yes Zero, you ARE a fun spoiler. Still there are worse…

You can look at the shadows and see that he couldn’t be back from the rock much. Also, to jump off a higher rock not in the picture he would have had to have a lot of horizontal, which looking at his body seems unlikely.
Also, looking at his arms and feet, me must have been close to the climax. As far as the black things in his hands, i guess people usually do start hang-gliding from that hight over water and hanging vertical.

I think he’s holding on to a poer kite but the handles seem rather small!
this is really dumb, but not as bad as the one where the guy is holding the toy car.
(To Zero and Liberate) No shadows from a glider or parachute, though. I assume it’s just him jumping towards the camera and perspective messing with us.

He’s doing some type og hang-gliding, bungee-jumping, anything – you can see the two black objects in his hand that probably are attached to some sort of parachute.

amm…the shadow in the water isn’t even under him..since it’s a round spot it means the shadow should be right under him…or else if it’s in that position, it should be more stretched out

i say remove this illusion since it’s been proven phony. Takes the fun out of it when the “trick” to an illusion is not your eyes, but something that actually is impossible without computer alteration.
everyone who did not get this illusion is stupit, for 4 reasons
The shadow of him, and only him is in the water, nothing else is there.
If he jumped off a higher cliff, his body would be more horizontal.
His shirt is blown UP because of the wind, which means that he is falling down, straight down, which eleminates him jumping off a different cliff, because he would be horizontal, and the fact the he is power flying or something like that.

The computer took his body and moved it up higher to make an impossible action, looking like he actually jumped 3 feet. well anyway, this illusion has been officially figured out!
yo he holden on to a hang glider cause u see the things hes holind in his hand. also if u look on his right hand u can see a long thin cable that runs out of da picture..
and u cant see tha hang glider cause the angle the picture was taken from hides the shadow of the hanglider out of the picture

i think i cracked this one.
behind the rock on the left side, there is a trampoline. thats the only way this guy’s jump is normal at this angle. unless he’s a Olympic high jumper, superman, jedi and or this photo is a fake. yep a trampoline. pretty easy to do too. and fuuuuun

The answer is easy:
There is an hydraılic accelerator which gets activated with an increase of pressure. so when he ran and stepped on it, the device pushed him up. these kinds of devices can push a man up to 12 meters.

Some people say the sky looks funny right around the man and think it’s a poor photoshop job, but it’s clearly just jpeg compression artifacts. It would be hard to make an editing mistake that looks like that.
Also, people think the shadow of his parachute/glider isn’t visible, but it IS – and here’s where the real illusion is. The shadow of his glider is to the left of his shadow. It looks like the shadow of the rock, but it’s not.
