Our visitor Rona submitted this. If you take a second, and look at the chair picture, you will understand what she ment: “I was looking on google for chairs for my project, and found this. The chair looks like you’re looking at it from the front (which you are) but if you look closer, it also looks as if it’s from the back! And that it’s a bit crooked. It’s not photoshopped. Cause I don’t have photoshop… I know it’s a bit plain, but I like it! I always go on your site! ‘Cause I have your Google gadget on my google personalized home, of which I go on everyday..and I check your illusions! Amazing stuff. I like the one with the water drops and the background…Well, you don’t need to know about that. I hope you like my illusion!” – I do like it Rona, and thanks for your submission. We had some chair illusions in the past, check stereograms section for chair stereogram, magic chair illusion, and one not so similar, but really famous – Scheibe effect.

  3. otowi says:

  6. Pandas says:

    how is that even possible?????

  7. Anonymous says:

Kinda dumb. But I could see how someone could look at it the other way — but no more than endless other objects that you can easily tell the correct perspective with a second glance.

Woah… that is the coolest thing ever.
I first couldn’t find the trick, but when i did, I was AMAZED.

  10. Tatiana says:

    It looks wierd.

  11. Anonymous says:

it looks more like one of thoes double sided illusions where different people see it differently

  12. Anonymous says:

    i like this effect

  13. kdmaster says:

  14. spuun says:

eh eh, i get this one

  16. Anonymous says:

    That’s a nice one – at least.

Where’s it’s last leg? To me it looks like a 3 legged chair. I have to say, it’s pretty obvious that the illustion is made with the shadows and nothing more.

  18. Anonymous says:

    Very nice i like

    borat rules buddy

  19. mac dude chris says:

NICE! I LOVE IT! ITS VERY CONVICING!

I could see the chair from the back and front but it is actually the front that is showing in the picture. The reason it looks like you are seeing it from the back is because you are seeing the reflection.

  21. Anonymous says:

its just a F%$#&^% plain old chair

  22. Anonymous says:

it looks really good if u look at it a little from the left

  23. PooHoo says:

That’s cool !!1! When you squint your eyes the chair turnes into a FORK!!1

    WoW!

  24. Anonymous says:

I keep trying but I still don’t see it!

  25. kdmaster says:

look at it from the left and aglin the sadow with the leg

  26. Anonymous says:

This picture is actually taken from front, not from back. Look at the shadow/reflection. It won’t appear like that if you look from back. This is indeed taken from front side.

  27. Anonymous says:

i got it a missing leg

  28. Anonymous says:

The chair is not crooked. The 4th leg is hidden behind the opposing leg.The angle the photo was taken at and the way the light hits causes the shadow to almost line up with the actual back posts. If you cross your eyes a bit or do the magic eye blur look at it the illusion appears and dissapears, it’s a pretty o.k find but indeed it is just a chair.

  29. mexilicious says:

I love this!….The shadow reflection of the back (BARS) of the chair give it the effect that makes you able to look at it and see it from the front and the back!…love it!..*WINKS*

  30. knowitall says:

slightly odd but pretty goo, even taking the legs (some are curved) into consideration

  31. Anonymous says:

stupid and lame, makes no sense

  32. Yaelypower says:

Vincent Van Gogh did something like that in his “potato eaters”. if you look at the chair in the bottom left corner you will get (almost) the same effect. try googling “van gogh” or “Potato eaters” (or boath).

  33. Anonymous says:

kindda lame but its okay i guess,,,,,

  34. Anonymous says:

    Cool.

  35. Anonymous says:

    I don’t see nothing wrong with this chair……..wait a minute………

  36. Bob says:

I can’t see the chair from the back side, all I see is a reflection of the back in the seat and that’s all.

  37. Anonymous says:

looking at it normally was impossible for me… and then i saw it when i crossed my eyes…it helps to erase the fact that the shadow IS actually a shadow and allows u to see it as part of the chair back!

  38. Anonymous says:

    lame

  39. 0079626 says:

if you unfocus your eyes and look at the shadow on the chair..

  40. Meee says:

Ooooh, i get it! You gotta like.. cross your eyes a little bit. Thats really cool, but simple

  41. Patrick says:

i think that is a far reach for an explination to call this an illusion
