This alphabet table looks like it has been covered with parallel, angeled lines. This illusion occurs best if you look at the thumbnail image. If you open it full size you will get the same effect, only not so intense. Thanks Christopher for you kind submission! Kind of obvious. Any number of shapes going in a diagnol line one after the other will look like diagnol lines. Not so amazing.

    W00t, first comment.

The letters don’t look quite right to me, I think they were edited to make the illusion stand out more.

    duh.

some of the letters are bold and some arnt
thats why some lines stand out
this is proabaly the worst illusion i have seen on this site

    woh. they’re moving too

That is a Vigenere box, also called the tabula recta, used to encode and decode Vigenere ciphers. Pretty cool effect anyway.

It is a simple double character cipher chart

    ditto with #1

i know wat this thing is. you can use to make a coded message.

Cool. Not cool enough to be an illusion though. I figured it out when I looked at it.

they cheated. If you look closely you will see that the letters are farther apart in the “lighter” areas, and closer together in the darker areas. The transition spots are the “lines”

For those who think that some letters are bold or that some are farther apart, open Word and type one of these yourself. Same effect.

#13, if that were true, there wouldn’t be a line going through the middle of the letter K’s.

If you look closely, none of them are bold, none of them are “messed up”, and the spacing is equal.

Hence it being called an illusion…..

I think that you shold all just look at the cool side. It doesnt have to be perfect.

Not an illusion. As stated above the letters are arranged in diagonal lines so its unsurprising a diagonal pattern emerges.

Do you consider ASCII art an illusion too? ( http://www.chris.com/ASCII/ )

I enjoyed this illusion! I took Frankie’s advice and typed it out in Word to see it first hand. It’s pretty cool when you start trying it with different fonts and dingbats in various sizes. Some of the patterns created would make nice wrapping paper, blog headers, computer wallpaper, or whatever.

I see so many negitive posts on this website, and it’s so annoying. If all of you hate everything so much, why do you even bother to comment? This is a fun website that’s just trying to provide a little amusement. I, for one, appreciate it.
