  8. David says:

Its called a ballotade, and let me tell you, that one is very sloppy, the back legs are supposed to be tucked.

  10. Don says:

LoL, i find it funny that that lady is holding onto the straps still xD
man, shes gonna be pulled by that monsturous animal lol

in anycase this illusion looks pretty amazing in the standpoint that the lady with the leash appears to be trying to keep the horse from flying away if thats an illusion, but its a nice pic =]…makes me laugh a ton tho -Haha

  11. Halley says:

It’s a special jump called a capriole that lipizzaner horses are taught, in which they kick out their legs while in mid-jump. It’s kind of like a person clicking their heels–same general idea.

  12. Polebendinbay says:

Ok you can tell by the comments who is a horse person and who clearly isn’t :)

  13. AmericanHrseJmpr says:

wow, you guys are real idiots. you can DEFFINATELY tell who knows about horses and who doesnt. clearly you would know that its a Lipizzaner stallion doing a capriole. im glad theres at least one person in this room who knows what theyre talking about (Halley). this picture doesnt do them justice at all though, seeing them in person is an amazing thing to watch.

  14. Dani says:

Lol its not any of the ones i read Lippizaner Horses were trained to do that For entertainment and other things

  15. Emmipsi says:

It is a true horse jump.
I have attedned the Apassionata show and saw this live.

  16. Anonymous says:

the horse is obviously bucking or jumping. duh

  17. Anonymous says:

Dani, the original purpose for most of the movements the lipizzaners are taught were used in war, not for entertainment. Almost everything horses now do (dressage for instance) are a byproduct of when horses were used in war and everyday work.

  18. Kay says:

You guys are killing me…It’s the Spanish Lippizans yes a true breed of horse and this is one of the stunts the do for show !!!

  19. Anonymous says:

Actually, you can call it a “trick” if you want, but the capriole has been trained by the Spanish Riding School for hundreds of years, and was actually used as a move in battle. It falls under the “au du concours” (airs above the ground… my spelling might be off) category of movements taught in classical dressage.

Also, not only Lipizzans are taught these movements. Many Baroque horses (although mainly Lips and Andalusians) are taught au du concours… but any breed can be taught these movements. Note, I say any breed, NOT any horse. It takes TREMENDOUS discipline and hindquarter strength to pull that off… its also considered the highest level of performance in dressage, and is not even required in international dressage competitions at the highest levels.

Don’t believe me? Google “airs above the ground, and see what you find.

  23. Anonymous says:

    ya that horse is jumping,
it is a lippazaner is is not uncommon for these horses to do this!

    they were taught to

  24. Strawberry says:

    poor thing

  25. Anonymous says:

I think it looks like it is just jumping nothing cool because it is a statue

  26. Anonymous says:

It looks like as if the horse isnt real…if you look closely at the stone wall, it looks as if the horse is actually made out of something like clay, since it looks like the feet are glued to the wall or something

  27. Suki says:

I’ve seen this at a fair before. Either the horse is as strong as the one I saw and is just jumping, or it’s been fixed…probably the first one…
