Dear Maria
Thank you so much for explaining to carl it is NOT man made. And to Carl, it's not really logical to think someone would decide to remove some earth so that it looks like a heart from a certain point at a certain time of day... anyone with two brain cells to rub together would see this, but clearly you dont have the mental capacity to IMAGINE having two brain cells...

It's strange because it seems small but you can see the buildings are smaller. The "I love you" is not ruining the image but if it wasn't on the image it would be better...for me maybe not for the others, I don't know!

Carl C.
What you dont seem to understand is that the "heart" is visible ONLY from where the the photo is taken. If you move 500 meters to the left or to the right, you will not be able to see anything! It is not planned and it is not designed in the shape of heart. Furthermore in the midday you will not be able to see the "heart" because the shadows will not be there. This is an old site where workers used explosives to extract gravel from the ground. Do you believe when the site was active, the workers and the engineers where thinking like... "Oh! lets explode the earth... take the gravel we need... and create a heart only visible from one point in Athens and only in the morning hours..."
I really can't explain with a more simple way... that your logical brain is wrong when it tells you that this had to be planned and designed by somebody...

Thanks!

Maria, while I certainly can't refute you, please understand that I still remain skeptical about this. My logical brain tells me that this had to be planned and designed by somebody. Of course, that would only make it even more amazing, in that someone had that much understanding of lighting and shadows.

Oh, and read comment 3 :) That's where I was referring to the claim of it being "natural"

Dear Carl C.,
it is man made... no one said something different. But it is not a formation in the shape of a heart. They did this to extract stones from that area. You can see the "heart" only from that point of view with the help of the sun and the shadows. Only in the mornings and only from that point of athens. So it is perfectly shaped... by pure chance...

Interesting picture, although even if we assume this is real and unedited (other than the words, of course), it is still not an optical illusion. It's simply a man-made formation in the shape of a heart.

Cheese, I refuse to believe that it is a natural formation. The chances of anything that perfectly shaped occuring by pure chance might as well be zero.
