Help! Is this guy drowning, or is he safe? It depends on how you see the image, and the way it is rotated. For example, many of you will first presume this guy is drowning and screaming for help, but when the image is rotated (jump inside this article to see the 2nd picture), you will see that he is actually safe. By the way, it’s nice to have a cartoon-ish illusion here and then, right? :)

Is this a red hat ?
Nice illusion, only on picture two this guy either has his nostrols on the upper side of his nose or he has 2 very weird tumors placed at two highly unlikely places.
Shame, could be a really great picture if it weren’t for this flaw.

The picture is just up-side down, it still looks like he is drowning….up-side down…or is he climbing the wall? It looks the same in both pictures.
Nah, in the second the poor chap’s bent backwards over a fence… Ouch!
I can’t really tell, but i would say to me on both it looks like he is drowning. If i look at the second picture it makes me think his head is the other way round.
He is drowning look at the 2 bolards either side of him there deep in water! when rotated there still underwater!

ok to all those who are all like not that great and i have seen better. well i want to see you do any better. A picture like that takes alot of work and alot of creativity.

No, look closer. Where his mouth is in the first picture is a hat in the second. He’s not bent backwards over the fence he is leaning over it. It took me quite a while to see it. then BLAM it hit me. it is really actually very clever.

Isn’t it possible that the man is upside down on a fence or he is lyin back, half in the water, on some decking??? Could have been better, but still a great illusion using 2 different aspects!

I didn’t get that the mouth was supposed to become a hat at first, because seeing the nose above the eyes made my mind automatically flip the picture the “right” way up, it only makes sense in the first rotation.
Well I think he looks safe in the first one b/c the red could be a hat and in the second one his head is just messed up so he aint safe in it….
i think it kinda stinks.

in the first picture he is actually climbing up the wood for safety and the second has me stumped.
i was stumped in the beginning but i realize hes safe because hes on some decking. U can tell hes on some decing because his thumbs are facing the same way that we would have them if we were grabbing onto some decking. look close and ull see wat i mean.
i solved this illusion ull find out u wont be stumped anymore

to see this illusion you have to look at the mouth, in the second pic look at the mouth as if its a hat(which its supposed to be) and then you can see the illusion.

i get it u see the first one is just the picture taking te right way then the second is the same thing but the picture was taking with the photo guy looking down at it

I think in the second one hes on some sort of decking or something. But still pretty cool illusion.

There seems to be three main ‘perceptions of thought’, but it’s important to think about the “artist’s intention.” #1 – The man is climbing up the fence with his back to us. If that is true, the second picture doesn’t make sense. #2 – The man is bent over a fence backwards. If that’s the case, then it’s obvious he is being tortured, because of the screams. #3 – This one would be correct. He is a man in water, facing us and screaming for help. The second picture is taken from above with him climbing to safety. The red lines above his nose are frown lines.
I saw this on cracked and thought you might like the illusion.

The wooden planking is not a fence it is a dock–level with the water. He is safe in both pictures, wearing his little red hat.
