This is what just came in! I’ll let Carpathia explain this one: “Hi there…. I really love your site!!! I’m still waiting to see an actual ‘Illusion” on your illusion site. almost everything you post is obviously explainable with 10 seconds or so. I’m still waiting for somthing thats going to actually make me think at all. whats next…….the “Is it a goblet???? or two faces in profile???? OOOOOOOO???????crazy!!!!!

However, it still is really cute, so I like it :)
Oh and to respone to MMM, there is plenty of space for the cat to put it’s head through the hole. In the picture, the cat is looking down, so it looks like it’s too small. To get out it would simply lift it’s head up and back out.
It’s cute, though you can tell the cat’s head was added via Photoshop, or some other image altering program. If you look closely you can see the remains of a poor silhouette starting from the cats snout and continuing past it’s mouth to where the neck “enters” the hole. Altered… but cute.

All you have to do to accomplish is illusion is decapitate a cut it’s really easy!
You guys who are claiming it’s photoshopped must think that EVERYTHING is photoshopped. I kinda see what you’re talking about with the sillouette, but it looks to me like the whole picture is that way, not just the cat’s head. Also, the picture is totally plausible if you keep in mind that you’re looking at a wooden fence with knot holes in it… who’s to say the owner doesn’t have two cats and they just happened to catch this photo?

Yes Erin it IS plausible, and NO Erin I do not thing EVERYTHING is Photoshopped. If you open the image in photoshop and zoom in on it, you will be able to see cloned artifacts, and the white “halo” around the cats head…. also you will notice a LACK of wiskers, because wiskers are very difficult to silhouette.
I wasn’t attacking you personally Joe…. It’s just that I notice a lot of people on this site will call many of the images “photoshopped”, as if that takes away all credibility from the illusion. Just because a pic is altered doesn’t mean that it’s not pretty neat… And even if this particular picture is altered in some way, I think it’s a cool picture and a cool illusion.

No worries, I also enjoy this site immensely. Nothing wrong with a little lighthearted debate. :) I agree, having browsed through the archives I found it annoying to have people constantly say an illusion was “Photoshopped” and what’s even worse is when people jump on peoples grammar or spelling, not realizing then English isn’t a first language for everyone.
Anyways, let’s just agree to disagree on this particular illusion, and just enjoy it for what it is.

I see what you’re saying about the whiskers joe, but I think they may not show up due to the very low resolution (the cat’s eyes seem to be only 4-5 pixels high, so I don’t think whiskers could be resolved). The scenario depicted seems like it could have easily “just happened” so I don’t see why this particular image would need to be edited at all.
With that said, I could be completely wrong here, but I think this is a real, unedited picture.

ARGH! I can be just as analytical and nitpicky as the rest of you guys.. but can’t you just enjoy something? This is one of THE coolest illusion sites i’ve come across. Just because YOU don’t think it’s cool don’t go telling the guy who made it that it’s crappy.. it’s not. So what if it’s two cats… it LOOKS cool…
don’t just assume everything is made using photoshop… i hate when people do that. take the time to think about all the possibilities.

yes the head may look photoshopped, but this was probably taken with an old, or poor quality, home use camera, like on things like You’ve Been Framed(funny home vidio clip show). Also cats can fit through supprisingly small gaps, so the fur may have covered up the hole, and the cats wiskers are probably flat against its head
