This is big! Few days ago, responsible person from "Aerosmith" Rock band contacted me. They wanted to discuss usage of some of our optical illusions for their new album cover! Heres where you come in, our faithfull audience - They were interested escpecially in two pictures you may find inside this post (2nd and 3rd picture). Can someone track the original author of these two pictures? Can you find the High-Resoultion copies of them? To give you a little present, here's the pre-made cover art they made for now. Do you like it?

I'm not sure, but the second one could be the work of Charles Allan Gilbert. I'll dust off some of my old art history books to see if I can find out.

    Good luck!

also, you can turn the aerosmith logo upside down and it'll still say "aerosmith"

Hey that cover is actually another illusion from around here, just more colorful! Can't remember where is it but it's here definitely!

The first (from the pre-made cover) is called "Life and Death as seen from far and near" from an artist called Callieni.

The second is "Gossip and Satan came also" by George A. Witherspoon (in the early 1900s)

The third is called "Mephisto" and it seems to be drawn in the UK in 1900.

You can read all this information in the excellent book of J.Richard Block "Seeing double"

By the way, the name of the band in the pre-made cover is an ambigram! John Langdon did it for the band.

    Good luck with the cooperation!

these images look like demons from far away, but look closer and you'll see 1) two kids, 2) party of ladies, 3) nude lady.

Aerosmith rocks! "DREAM ON! DREAM ON! DREAM ON! WOHHHHOHHHHOOHHHHOHHH!!! OH! I know..."

Anyway, cool pictures. I love the new Aerosmith logo. Mike, the nude ladies are in the third picture if you look at it.

That naked lady on the 3rd pic was HOT!

I like the Aerosmith ambigram. Awesome. (Where it reads the same thing upside down) They are quite fearsome! But awesome, nonetheless. "The Devil surely has a New Disguise!"

The last one has three nude ladies. Very interesting work. The middle one is beyond creepy and the first one looks so familair, but it probably reminds me of a similar work.

Yes, the Aerosmith Ambigram was indeed done by John Langdon. The same man who the ambigrams for Angels and Deamons!
